Help me remove freewheel on shimano 600ex hub
I need to change to a differnt gear ratio, but there's a plastic cover in my way. Sorry for the noob question I've not worked on these hubs before, how do I remove the freewheel/cassette?
Hub is a 'Shimano FH-6208, 600EX', with a 7 speed freewheel/cassette.

Freewheel and casette/freehub are two completely different systems, not the same thing. You have a casette freehub. You need to use 2 chainwhips to hold and spin the threaded outer sprocket off.

You have an older Uniglide cassette/freehub system. Unless you have a collection of old Uniglide cogs, changing gear ratios will be difficult. You can grind down a set of Hyperglide cogs, but you'll still need that last threaded cog.
A more better solution is to swap a newer Hyperglide freehub body onto the hub shell. They are about $15 for a 7-spd. Then you can use available 7-spd cassettes.
