got out for a quick overnight to Hammonasset State Park last night (63 miles round trip) with an old friend. We had a blast including a couple beers in the center of Clinton (Chip's). No time for extended tours so I'm hoping to be able to do a few overnighters a year to satisfy the urge.

Not exactly fully loaded and definitely not your typical touring bike, but this is what I've got for Bike and Build, and so I thought I'd try 'er out. Did a two day/one night 100 mile tour (was supposed to be 130 miles) from Hortonville, Wisconsin to Cambridge, Wisconsin, but it ended up being cut short by a flat tire and out-of-commission Road Morph in Columbus, Wisconsin. Oh well... I had a great time anyway, despite the fact that this campground was obscenely expensive (almost $40 for a patch of dirt and a picnic table! The showers weren't even working!)

That is such a great setup with almost all the load in front and so low. I like to carry my stuff that way too. A very clean and nicely done job, congratulations.

kipibenkipod - the way I see it, the front wheel is stronger than the rear - no dish. With my current load, most equipment load is on the front wheel and my body load is on the rear(like normal, unloaded). When I weighed this setup the distribution came out to 50% front, 50% rear. The low trail geometry(~40mm) favors a heavy load on the front and real world riding proves it. This setup is no-hands stable with the full touring load.

Salsa Fargo rigged
Just purchased and assembled this Salsa Fargo. My first complete build. Am really happy with the feel of this bike especially the way it handles weight. The bike sits more upright/relaxed like a mountain bike, yet it has the longer wheel base and handlebars of a touring bike. There's plenty of room for monster tires for sand and dirt travel. The rear disk brake is mounted on the chainstay to avoid the common problem with the rear rack mounts. I have disc brakes on another bike and I have really grown to love their stopping power with loads, not to mention it save the wear on my rims. At this time I've only 200 miles on it but soon to be many more. I had couplers installed to break the bike down for travel via planes, trains and automobiles. Its Tubus racks front and rear.
