Straight steerer tube in tapered head tube frame

Hi,

I would like to know if I can use a straight tube fork in a bike which has a tapered head tube. If yes, what I need to convert this?

You need a new headset- one that fits the head tube taper and has the steerer tube diameter.

I have heard an adapter exists. Right?

Yeah you need a 1-1/2 to 1-1/8 adaptor. They go from around £8 here. It converts the frame to 1-1/8 so you will need to use a 1-1/8 head set for it.

Yes there are adapters. a 1.5" crown race with a 1 1/8" ID. That fits properly on the steerer and is big enough for the larger lower cup.
I assume this is an external headset- thats what I have experience with. If its internal, then I have no idea if that can be adapted with a fork that isnt tapered. I would assume there is an adapter for that too since there seems to be one for everything, I just dont know.

FYI Internal headsets generally interface with the fork exactly the same as external headsets. Sometimes the top of the fork crown is shaped differently to look nice with the larger diameter of the frame, but the headset parts fit on the fork the same way.
