March Photo Challenge - “Blur”

Any subject utilizing blur. Soft focus, pin-point depth of field, aesthetic bokeh, moody grain, mysterious mist, dreamy reflection, dynamic panning or zooming, time-smearing long exposures, cheap photoshop tricks, or even kinky Vaseline - no judgements, anything goes to achieve an artistic blur. The blur can enhance your subject or be totally abstract. I’m sure that there will be some stunning images from this group.

Unless I’m a bit fuzzy , it sounds like the March winner will pick the theme for May since Stupidly Brave will be choosing the April theme (per Clemsongirl.) Post your blurry photo by March 31. Voting for your three favorites begins on April Fools Day and ends at 8:00pm MDT on April 3. I’ll tally the results and post the winner in time for the Easter Bunny to see who won. In case of a tie vote for the winner, unless there are objections, I think the earlier winning entry should be theme picker for the future monthly photo challenge.

[added: Anyone posting an entry this month gets a courtesy “like” from me ]

Not my entries but here are some “seed images”

I shot this from a kayak. The blurry colors are reflections of nearby houseboats.

Yes, it was. The solid cat made by defense contractor Perkin-Elmer and marketed by Vivitar. As a bit of trivia, the man who designed the solid cat also designed the corrective lens for the Hubble, so I guess it really is rocket science.

An interesting, unique and somewhat oddball lens!! i tried the series1 600 a number of years ago but my photography is with all much shorter focal lengths. If it’s the 600 did it come with all the original back lens filters for it?

This was with the 800mm version but I also have the 600mm. My 600 came without filters but the 800 has them. As the filters are designed for use with film they aren't needed for digital cameras.

These vintage lenses are fun to play with and, considering their age, can give good results. I use the Pentax system specifically because it has good compatibility with the old glass.

And the 4" long Vivitar is a lot easier to handle than a 20" long Canon or Sigma. I can hand-hold the 600 but with the 800 I usually need a little extra support.

This is a color photo, but the mist and fog were so heavy.

Great images so far! I said that I’d be giving “courtesy likes” but each of these deserve a genuine like.

Just one week left to enter or swap out photos.

Migrating snow geese at Freezeout Lake MT. Heading back out this week as the bird numbers increase, but I’ll post this one for now in case I break my camera.
