I've used it and bought several bikes. It's awkward because they don't usually have viewing and with Covid I expect none at all.
You bid, no guarantees on quality or serviceability. Usually its cheap though.
Credit cards are used to pay, I haven't bid in awhile but relatively easy to play
Bought this one for I think $35.74?? Someone on here has it now
https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...s-3-speed.html
I also got an Eaton's Glider for $5 to see if I could build it up for $15.

Saw the patches and the box of cycling shoes (@$1 currently) but figured there was enough there in the post to catch the eye of someone. Shoes looked interesting as might be good for someone looking for old school stuff.
PO was probably an interesting fellow, skied, biked, collected James Bond stuff, weird old car stuff etc.
** Was on cell earlier so now adding photo of shoes as I don't think they make Medalist anymore (??). Pair on right look very close to new.

It is I.
The frame measures 63cm CTT with a 60cm TT (IIRC on the top tube). I had a (potential) build thread about it on here a little bit ago before selling it off as it was too short in the seat tube and a little long in the top tube. Among other things. Sharp rider when built up, even if the fork isn't original.

Well biscuits and gravy, folks, if it isn't a super tall Centurion! The elusive 26.5" (67cm) frame size (CTT). 1986, MINT condition, short reach brake calipers, Tange 2 tubing, two pairs of bottle cages, racy geometry, and a top tube that doesn't look too long. It is quite the find. I've inquired as to the top tube's length, but the seller has shown, thus far, 1) very poor communication skills 2) he has no interest in helping 3) he doesn't know bikes well. This, all from our (frustrating) CL interactions. You may have better luck. The bike is apparently in Escondido (between LA and San Diego). A $390 asking price may either bit a bit rich for a (or an original) bike like this, or it may be within logical range due to fantastic condition and absolute rarity (due to size, primarily).

Not quite able to post links or photos yet, but if anyone is in Northern Ontario there's a smallish Miele in Killarney that's listed as free on Facebook Marketplace. Looks to be one of the lower end 80s road models, but free is free

Not as low end as you'd think. Not sure the model but it does look nice
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...code=undefinedDetailsOld, well taken care of vintage Miele bike. New tires and seat. Needs a tune up. Owner wants to find a new home for a well loved bike.
Owner is waaaaaay out there. Perhaps there is a member in Sudbury or someone has a hunt-camp on Manitoulin Island or we have a member who goes to Kilarney Provincial Park in the spring and she might hold it? Worth a try for someone

I can give a vouch for Maxsold as well. I'll add that the main gimmicks are that everything is sold "as-is" and pick ups are in pre-determined windows, so you have to work around their schedule. It's mainly used for downsizing or estate sales - sometimes the seller knows what they're looking at and will take better photos, but the vast majority is done by a Maxsold employee who comes in and photographs everything as quickly as possible, so you can't expect any further info if they've missed a detail (not photo'd the drive-side, say). But on the other hand, bidding always starts at $1, and depending on the location you can get some nice finds. Worth looking at every now and again
I think I've got a lead on a nearby LBS that's willing to pick it up for me and pack it for shipping, but if xiaoman1 or any other SoCal forum members have suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them.

ZudeJammer Are you near an Amtrak station? I'm sure there is one in LA.
Prices were higher last year when I checked out shipping a bike from Buffalo than this thread, but not much.
https://thecabe.com/forum/threads/i-...-amtrak.85776/
PS I was stunned by how low that stuff went, but I have two wheels sets at my US mailbox and a set of tools and a Raleigh Technium in Shreck83's garage so I refrained.

Looking for a cheap Raleigh Sports?
Needs work, but the seller says it's a 1965 model and he may be close on the year.

I'll take a look at that Amtrak option. Bikeflights ground shipping seems pretty reasonable as well: about $80 to my door. LBS is offering to pick this up at the auction site and box it up for shipping for about $100. So at the end of the day, the actual purchase price of the bike is only about 1/3 of my cost, but my thought was "Would I have paid $250 for a decent condition 1984 Trek 720 in the size I want if it showed up on my local CL? Definitely!" Now I'm just hoping that it really is decent! It feels a little like that show where people bid on storage containers without knowing exactly what's inside.
As for the whole of the auction, definitely some bargains to be had. It's the kind of estate sale that if I had gone in person to "look at one bike" I might have been in trouble with my wife for what I ended up bringing home. Agree with the comment that the deceased seems like a interesting character!

Sorry. Nit sure why I typed your name. Could because I replied to your confirmation about the Raleigh the other day???
I was replying to SchRadler and suggesting he seek local assistance near or in LA with a facilitator. Again sorry for confusion

A quick word of thanks WGB for sharing the MaxSold link and aker and others for giving me the confidence to try a bid on a new platform and land the Trek 720 tourer that I've been looking for (at a fraction of the prices that I've seen on the more well known auction site). I'm a little wary buying "as-is" from a couple of photos, but I didn't see anything that scared me off. Looks to be mostly original except the saddle, and I'm kind of in love with that blue Jim Blackburn rear rack. Now to get it from Southern California to Michigan. . .
I think I've got a lead on a nearby LBS that's willing to pick it up for me and pack it for shipping, but if xiaoman1 or any other SoCal forum members have suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them.

I hope it works out.
