3. None of them are even close to high end. Not even mid-end. 2 are standard older department store bikes. My current go-to is a Schwinn GS Frontier from the 90s, updated with mostly newer components.

I have two bikes at present: a 2010 Kona Jake the Snake cross bike and a 2014 Specialized AWOL.
They cover all of my riding needs pretty well, and both get used as commuters and the AWOL is great for shopping, running errands, etc. I am, however, developing an overwhelming desire to add a fun road bike to the mix, something that doesn't need to be terribly practical but is well suited to faster weekend group rides and the like. We'll see where that leads!

Living car free with one bicycle. I like keeping things simple. Works fine for me. Multiple bikes is a waste IMO.

I'm totally on board with that! I've been saving for a bit of cycling indulgence myself.

Prefers Cicero
Also I prefer my road-ish tour bike with skinnier tires in summer, and the slightly fatter tires of the other bike on slimy leaf-mulched autumn streets.

14 bikes collected over the years - one or two project bikes
All need work, but there isn't enough time.

Been around the block
I have two similarly outfitted bikes, which I alternate every week in order to keep the wear and tear even between bikes, and at least one of the bikes is always on the ready should I have a unforeseen or lengthy maintenance repair on the other bike.

I post these babies all the time.
Daily driver

When I feel like a Hero

The winter bike. In SoCal, what's that?

The grocery getter.

At the plater. Should be done in a month or two. I have to drizzle it out for my dear wife.

Too many. Sixteen at the moment not counting the one I'm building for a friend.
I made the mistake of buying some of these, like my Miyata 710 for a part or parts and then intending to resell, but rode and fell in love with.
Cheers

Rather than figuring what you need, let's disclose what we own.
I'll confess to owning 7 bikes currently. Most of them are from the 70s and 80s. Most of them have been cobbled together. Seems like building and repairing bicycle is a bit of a hobby for me.
Surprisingly, for purpose of transportation right now, I pretty much use just one.
What about you?

I just sold my refurbished Mongoose Manuever. But I am not sure what year it was. But it was a 24" frame. It was huge. lol

Some people collect watches, some collect shoes, some collect cars or BBQ kettles. I just collect bikes. At least they keep me happy, fit and don't make me fat. lol
I have a few bikes anywhere between 15 and 33 years old. Nowadays I only buy used bikes. I try not to spend more than $200 to $300 on a bike. I fix them up and enjoy riding them. Some I keep, some I sell again. Constantly looking for a cheap cool bike I like to ride and tinker with.
