have brag a little

I'm half way to my distance goal, I managed 54miles today, not bad for 325lbs guy that pushing 30years old, it occurred to me I'm not as young as I used to be and the last fifteen miles I really started to feel it in my knees and legs but the last five I found my second wind,

I doubt any more than 5 or 10% of the general population could do that regardless of age or weight!

Nice job!

FYI, lots of long distance riders are well past 30 years old. At 35 I'm one of the youngest riders in DC Randonneurs. Sadly this means guys like us have no license to gripe about our age

Well done. Don't forget that higher cadence saves knees and energy for those final miles. Think of it this way: if walking up the Empire State Building, 100 stories or so, would you rather take it one step at a time or two steps at a time.

Congrats!! Like rowebr said, lot's of older riders into endurance riding but I don't see too many true Clydesdales doing it. You've made an amazing accomplishment that I couldn't have done in my mid-20's at 235lbs!!

Wait until 35! Then 40... Certain ages seem to hit harder then others, but 30's not usually a performance cliff... You got a darn good 5 years where you can make radical improvement!

I was 285 on first 200k. DNF'd as I was 1 hour over on 6900 ft of climb... (At 48)

Finished 2 this spring at 240...

You our can do it, and given an honest try you WILL do it!

Dude that's flipping awesome no matter your weight or age. Congrats. I am 50Lbs more than you, and a few years older than you. My longest ride to date was Yesterday. I did 24 miles.

I found that I feel younger now that I did a few years ago due to my drop in weight and increase in overall fitness and health. I feel I've moved time backward. I still have a bit to go before I'm in the condition that I feel I can be and sustain which at that point forward age will again start to exert influence.

You're still young in the cycling world. I'm 45 and a lot of guys I ride with are in the 50s and older. If you're having knee pain, it may be a fit issue or it may be from riding with too low of a cadence.
