Same here, Lisinopril caused a cough I just couldn't tolerate. I am lucky to be on the lowest dose Losarton. I'm on other meds though, Gabbapentin for nerve neuropathy (non-diabetic), Baclofen for my back spasms, Indomethicin for swelling associated to gout, and the random med for gout...

That has been my experience. Although not prescribed for high BP I was put on a beta blocker after I had an ablation to correct a Ventricular Tacycardia (an arrhythmia) I couldn't tolerate the BB's and always felt like I was in second gear. Really affected my cycling and just felt lousy in general. I actually stopped taking it and eventually had a second ablation which so far has resolved the V Tach. I was put on lisinopril after that procedure. I have had no side affects to speak of. No cough and it doesn't affect my energy level at all. Really a no brainer for me.

After a heart attack I was put on Lisinopril 2.5mg along with a bunch of other meds (beta blocker, anti-platelet, statin, aspirin). After a month or so I didn't notice any side effects to any of these other than bruising easily. Dosages were fairly low except for the statin. My BP is good. The combo of Lisinopril and Metoprolol works better at controlling it than what I was taking for BP before the attack.

Taking 12.5 mg of metoprolol and 5 mg of amlodipine besylate at the present time. Hard to get the heart rate up at times.

I'm on it. Had a little bit of coughing, but nothing too bad. Also had some diarrhea issues the first year but those seem to have gone away.

I lost 55 pounds during this last year. I thought maybe with the weight loss I could maintain my blood pressure without meds, so I stopped taking them for a few months. My BP jumped up to 160 even though I was fit and exercising like a mad man. So I had to accept the fact that I'm just going to be on something for the rest of my life.

I was on lisinopril, no ill effects. Then I increased the dose, and developed a cough which is a potential side effect. I'm now on losartan with no ill effects. I'm still adjusting the losartan dose.

I used to take beta blockers, but then I was riding a lot and my BP went down so that I stopped taking BP meds for a few years. My RHR got down to 50. So when I needed to go back on BP meds, I didn't want to resume the beta blockers (which lower HR).

I'm back on lisinopril (Zestril 15mg) after being of it for a year do to a temporary kidney issue. I'm happy to be off Cardura or Hytrin. However we may switch to a Calcium Channel Blocker (Norvasc) the end of February.

If you get a cough ask the Doc for an ARB instead of the ACE inhibitor. As I understand it the ARB is a further reacted Ace inhibitor that doesn't react in your body with the cough side effect. I used Benicar for about 5 years now with no cough and no effect on cycling unless I use a diuretic version with HCTZ which gives me low blood pressure after about 4000 feet of climbing. So low that I can not ride.
