Happy to go bigger 52x16
Just want to claim that Im Happy to go bigger 52x16
Legs feel extra good after my workouts pushing these bigger rings.
Had a 42x16 and could not spin fast enough to keep 20+ mph pace.
Now my mostly flat TX rides are at a faster pace and my legs feel stronger pushing bigger.
Here is a pix of what Im using ...

Big gears are fun sometimes. Lately I mostly go to 49-17 for FG road rides, though sometimes I switch it to a 15. Nice bike.

Been running a 48-17 for a while with a cheapy freewheel. I'm going to put a 16 on it and ride that for a while before I spend $$ on a White Industries freewheel. I know I can push the bigger gear on the flats and rollers around here no problem, but my "training" rides have some pretty steep stuff. Atlanta is full of small but steep climbs, and Stone Mountain park hilly depending on how your ride the loops.
With the 17 I can run ~25 on the flats before I start to bounce, but working on higher cadence is one of the reasons I ride a SS.
