Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Art(s) in progress

building a bike is an art form... so is painting, drawing, sculpting, printmaking, sewing, filming, editing, performing and lots of other things...

here is a thread where you can post documentation of ongoing art projects/bike builds

no one likes showing work that is in progress BUT doing so pushes you that much harder to make the end product as amazing as you can, plus it's cool to see progressions.

So post your Art(s) in progress...

In progress.

Can we also post finished products? Or would that be totally forgetting about the point of this thread (aka to inspire ourselves)

a half built wheel and the drawing at the bottom left is from a (less than) half finished project.

writing...
the fact that I am going to pursue an MFA in Creative Writing keeps me writing as much as possible. Even if what comes out is horrid. More often than not, it is detestable. But it may be something to work with in the future.

I also look at others' art (photography, painting, ink/prints) and gain inspiration in writing. They are all doorways we can use to enter others' thoughts and interpretations. Great thread idea.

He receives an instant endorsement of himself when they respond to his laughter.

The people drawn towards political careers are usually the most susceptible to corruption, people who join the military are those with the least reluctance to kill, and the people who become artists are the most likely to mistake self-infatuation for substance.

Art, like all forms of human communication, can transmit only within the limits imposed by its participants.

Anyway, I like art. Thanks for starting the thread.

Let’s see some detestability.

OH! good thread. Here's what I'm working on atm...

Kris Drake Photography - almost fully complete, just some minor tweaks to some of the actionscript.

and Sound Unseen 2006 - which is almost built (on the back end) and in limbo waiting for new content as movies and events are booked

By definition I think that an upside down, burning flag is distateful. Whether it's distasteful or not is really a matter of opinion.

i don't have any pictures of any of my in-process art, but i paint some and throw pots quite a bit...

here's a teapot i recently made that i'm pleased with:

if anyone is a potter and cares, it's porcelin, with a carbon trap shino glaze fired to cone 10 with HEAVY reduction. i made the handle as well... it's my first one like this. actually i did the mosaic on the tabletop it's sitting on as well...

here's a painting i did awhile back:

"a lament for the boy who lives on my stairs"
mixed media on linen (a curtain... ha!) it's all found objects from my old house. it's a curtain stretched over an old window frame. there is also old wallpaper and photo's from 'have you seen me?' cards i collected for two years.

and another:

"10,000 deaths! to great expectations"
also stretched over an old window frame.

I would totally be into buying one if you start selling. My 3 that I have now are most likely mass produced, so getting one made by and individual's love would be amazing.
