Removed Post?
I posted something a couple of days ago that was a bit of a rant about something that bugs me.
I suspect it may not have been a popular sentiment amongst some segment of the cycling population.
Anyway, it seems that it never showed up. I know I hit "post" so did I not post correctly or do possibly controversial posts get removed?

Basically, it was about how I think bike paths do a disservice to road cyclist because they reinforce the notion that bikes don't belong on the road.

upper right corner of any BF page is your personal icon, drop down to see 'My Posts' and My Recent Posts'. If it took, it will show there and also lead you to where it is...
... post idea doesnn't seem all that controversial to me... usually if a Mod moves a Thread, they'll 'Reply' to the OPs initial post and note that it's done been moved...

Not inappropriate, just controversial...Next time post it in A & S...Personally I ride wherever I want... Road, MUP, bike path, unpaved trail, singletrack dirt paths, gravel, cutting across parking lots, sidewalks etc. It doesn't always have to be a paved road.,

My issue has to do with the ever-growing cultural expectation that bicycles don't belong on the road. Bike paths don't work for me, if they work for you, enjoy.

If there is a bike path that parallels a road and cyclists are using the road, then your argument may have merit. However, for beginning riders, young families on bikes, (and runners, pedestrians and dog walkers) a path is a far safer place no matter what you suppose motorists are thinking.

Interesting observation. I see more and more bike lanes in towns and cities every day..even in my small town they designated one wide sidewalk from one end of the town through to the other with a yellow line down the centre for bicycles and pedestrians...I figured it seems to be a growing trend to promote cycling for fitness and the climate change issues..

As the push for bike paths accelerates, my concern is that eventually, bicycles will be banned from the roads because after all, there are bike paths and they/we should be using them.
Everyone knows, the roads are for cars and it's only through their tolerance that we are even permitted there. Or so far too many think.

I agree. For the most part, motorists accept that cyclist are entitled to use the road and that has been my experience, with a few exceptions.
As the push for bike paths accelerates, my concern is that eventually, bicycles will be banned from the roads because after all, there are bike paths and they/we should be using them.
