other hobbies
Up here in N/W Indiana the riding season is almost finished so its time for other hobbies.I was just wondering what your other hobbies are when not riding or collecting bikes.Post them so others may find something to avoid the winter time blah's.I am also looking for an indoor hobby since all mine center around outdoors.Do you collect other things?

Homebrewing. I'm kegging an oatmeal stout this weekend, and have a high-gravity spiced holiday ale conditioning. It will be kegged about a week or two before Christmas.

This year I'll finally finish a Centurion Ironman. I'm buildiing a MTB for my oldest son on a 06 Specialized Hard Rock frame. I'll rebuild the Nishiki Medalist and I'll probably build up one more vintage bike with brifters.

I'm in Michigan so we probably have about the same weather. This will be the first year that I'm going to try to cycle uninterrupted. I picked up an old Fuji mountain bike with slicks for my bad weather bike. I added fenders and I'll put on more appropriate tires as the weather gets worse.
To answer you actual question, I enjoy skiing in the winter. As long as that white stuff's going to be on the ground I might as well ride around on it. Last year I played in an adult indoor soccer league and that was a ton of fun. I also enjoy playing guitar, but not as much now that I live in an apartment complex.

I'd love to get into this some day. I brewed a pale ale with a friend last year from a kit. It was pretty tasty, but I would rather craft my own beer than add ingredients from a box.

I also enjoy shooting, but I enjoy it a lot more when i can feel my fingers, so I don't do it much in the winter. It's also a classic and vintage hobby. Only my handguns are newer than 50 years old.

The riding season doesn't end for me in SE PA. About this time of the year up till March, my cross bike gets most of the use. The only time/place I do not ride is when there is salt on the roads (do snowy paths then). Also, this is the time of the year when I start tinker with new bike projects. I do train and race (in the summer) for triathlons and that is a year-long activity for me.

Death fork? Naaaah!!
My M1911 was made in 1912; the Smith Army Special in '36, my M1 carbine in '42, and Garand in '43.
Along with WW II Airborne troops weapons and equipment, I collect the cameras that documented the war, notable Zeiss Contax, Rolleiflex, and Speed Graphics. Also M-42 mount Pentax SLRs, Aries RFs, Nikon F/F2, and recently Exaktas.
Also wrist watches and fountian pens of the WW II period.

This is what we do in the winter. I don't think you have this option any closer than the northern suburbs of Chicago or I believe there is a curling club in Indianapolis that uses arena ice rather than a dedicated club.
