You don't think this is flamboyant:
"My particular "palette" is red. That means that when I buy gear I look to all the colors that synch-up with red...red, white, black, all metals. Add to that a tiny spot of yellow in the Italian tri-color [family stuff] or a tiny spot of blue in the French [more family stuff] e voila...a theme! I'll add that most purchases can be synched-up with one basic "pallette" color. [Dunno' about that Bianchi blue-green paint, but even THAT has a kind of dramatic panache." ???
If that's not flamboyant then I'm not having dinner with you that for sure!

I go for the style/pretty boy look when I'm not cycling. While on my bike, I really don't give a rip what I look like. I just wear clothes that are funtional.

I do care, but I get what's cheap. My whole kit was only $40 and it happens to match my bike. My helmet and tires are both weird colors.

Can someone explain this recurring theme where newbies resurrect very old threads with their initial post? Is this some sort of bot?

Now, those of us who've been racing or riding long enough have shoulders and necks that prevent the graceful over-the-shoulder look back. Too many broken collarbones, etc. I have to settle for a goofy mirror. Really should have ones for both sides.

And the other guilty parties; forum vets like me who still don't notice thread dates. (Doesn't help I suppose that some of us care little whether a thread is old or current. Cycling has been happening 140 years. The bikes very little. Back then the best minds in the world designed bikes. Now they've moved on to aerospace, computers and AI. There's a lot of bike wisdom that isn't in the current discussion.)

Even if I had a vast selection of bicycle attire that fit to my likings, I'd still not care that much to match.. to a point. Not going to be wearing mustard stain yellow & highlighter fred orange with the current shade of cool black going on.

I would feel like a tool if my clothes coordinated with my bike..
I try hard to look like I don’t care.

If they do, it is likely not on purpose. Even if I think they do, I am probably incorrect. Color blindness has gotten worse with age. I can never make out what those charts with all the dots and colors are supposed to be showing. For my yearly school bus checkup, I have to have the examiner point to colors for me to tell them what it is. I am fine doing that.
