Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Also in MN, a drunk squirrel. Hopefully DougRNS finds this more entertaining than bear news.

This is actually going to be replacing an existing lens, though, and I should be able to sell the current lens for more than the purchase price of the inbound lens. I'll be going from a Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 Distagon to a Zeiss Loxia 35mm f/2 Biogon, for the zero or so of you that are interested. The current Distagon produces some stunning images and, optically, it's probably the favorite of any lens that I've owned. Unfortunately, it's also on the big side and weighs a cool 1.1kg with adapter - that pretty much ensures that it gets left at home for anything except special occasions that don't involve too much walking. The new Loxia will come in much smaller and feathery in comparison (more than 700g lighter!), so it'll be viable pretty much all the time.
In the first sentence I wondered why the downgrade in aperture - I notice that too with the big 'uns. I need to sell some of mine - I don't think I'll ever shoot more than races and pets in the future ever, honestly. Taking a camera on trips realistically is just too much of a hassle. Especially internationally.

AG and I just did a half-hour call with a total of 30-odd people, who tried to do the traditional three-section singing. Now we are drinking more.

I could never not take a camera with me on a trip, but I favor the shorter focal lengths and have a mirrorless body, so it's not too much of a burden for me... as long as I'm not lugging that beautiful but beastly Distagon. I suppose that's where that, "the best lens is the one that you've got with you" saying comes from.

I used to travel with a rolling carryon filled with gear. No more. Now just take a DSLR and 50 f1.2 or my mirrorless and the 24-104 f4.

But, if a photo trip I will still lug the big stuff.

Just took a wall. Neighborhood is full of quasi-outdoor dinners with variable distancing.

I attempted to to a perfect 33.33, but must've taken a shortcut on the way back. Maybe next time... and zero flybys, this route is so unpopular I actually have a KOM on it, uncontested of course.

I don't think anyone made you leave Mayberry. (UP serving Mayberry, that's funny right there) (looks like they photoshopped out some of the "Pacific"
