Thanks, bktourer, yeah at $60 they seem a good deal. Saw a guy with them on the c & o last year. They looked pretty good and he said he was happy with them.

Be OK as a smooth road pannier I reckon, the couple of hook systems they seem to use look a bit janky, The metal hook system doesn't have an elasticised hold down, and the Ortlieb copy system looks very fragile. You could probably mod the bag to add a rubber hold down hook.

Guy I work with has them. rides daily with them loaded with lunch and clothes. he is a 10k a year guy always has the one pannier mounted. he did C&o and the gap last year using those panniers. I would trust them.

I have their waterproof pannier bag -- it's nicer than I thought it would be. The hooks have been fine so far. I could see how you might have to tighten the placement knobs (the hooks slide on a rail to fit different attachment points) every once in a while, but it hasn't been an issue for me since I've had to move them between different racks. I think there was an Amazon coupon (the "click here" kind).

If I needed fully waterproof I would go Ortleib, why compromise on knockoffs with a bad mounting system, when we have a proven pannier.

I have Rhino for commuting. I used daily for about 3 months before lockdown. So far, very pleased I was able to get workable panniers for substantially less outlay than Ortlieb.

Reasonable hooks for clearance lights.

a quarter of the price they are water proof.. how does anyone "knock off" a roll top pannier? Its hardly a new idea.

This doesn’t look like a knockoff Ortlieb, but one could create one. To make a knockoff you make your product look very similar to a high quality product with a great reputation, hoping enough consumers will think “If it looks like a duck it must be a duck, and it’s really inexpensive.” But that’s no guarantee that it will function and hold up like the product it’s copying. The materials and workmanship could be sub-par.

How does the quality of the buckles, straps, zippers, seam seals, waterproof coating and attachment mechanisms compare to the item being copied? Those are the questions when comparing panniers.

I use Rhinowalk rear bag. The bag has a good waterproof. It doesn't sway from side to side (if you fix it well). But I didn't buy a front one, because of comments.

I was wondering how good they are... the only thing keeping me from buying them is that one can find Ortlieb on discounts for 80-100$ per pair and the savings are not that big anymore. Im wondering how they hold up in the long term and if the waterproof layer isn't flaking off after a while as I've seen on other chinese products. The mounting system looks flimsy af too... but would like to try them for sure.

I have seen those deals many times in many different places, especially for their "design" line (wih custom graphics that can get outdated). I live in EU though.

Just bought a pair of used orteliebs for $85 on ebay. Shipping included. Nice condition, not counting the repaired squirrel chew hole. These are for my daughter who will be joining me for this years c&o trip. I will be styling my tattered roswells. I know my place in the socio economic universe
