New (to me) bike day! CAAD9

Just picked up this 2010 CAAD9 ($475). My first aluminum road bike. Tiagra group, WH-500 wheels. Have GP5000's on the way. Very clean except the chain. It was ridden very little.

Nice bike, nice frame. Heck, if needed, upgrade as things wear out. The frame is good enough to last a very long time I'm sure. My alum Cannondale I did exactly that. Started with Ultegra and as parts wore out, upgraded to DA when I found sales. Frame is lasting forever it seems. Nice bike!
Thanks. Yeah, needs to be wiped down a bit. Ultimately the frame sold me being is as good condition as it is.

I always wanted an old cannondale in highschool of course back then this would’ve been new. Still do though, with nice normal round tubes and a fork with a slight rake.

yep. those older higher end aluminum bikes are like rocket ships and very durable. i have one almost like it and don't see a need for anything else at the moment. before the current shortage those bikes were being sold for minute sums of money, best deals going on the planet were used aluminum older road bikes. i almost got my hands on a very cheap carbon bike at the time too, but had to fight off N+1.

I really enjoyed my CAAD 9. It felt very fast and stiff in terms of acceleration and climbing, yet it was not an overly harsh ride. It's my permanent Zwift/trainer bike now, but that's only because the carbon fork steerer has a little groove in it, so I no longer ride it on the road.

I would recommend maximizing the tire width, as much as you can. I have 25's on mine, but they inflate to 28 mm on my rims. The clearance is very tight.

Turns out the chainring side pedal won't remove (yes, this pedal is marked right to tighten). Tried penetrating oil for a few days and still no luck. Taking it to a shop tomorrow to give a try.

Thanks for the comment. The 28c GP5000's I mentioned in the first post arrived. Will mount them this week and see how well they fit.
