Lower gears/cranks/rings etc info
I've noticed we have a lot of threads started lately about lower gearing options. Another member wanted some info about a 110/74 crank with specific rings and a specific FD. So, I'll answer the question here and start putting other related info here. Maybe this can become a sticky where all related info can go.
Anyway, the other member wanted to change his crank to a 110/74 50/36/28. He has a FD-6207 he wants to use. The LBS says the it will not work. Let's give it a try.

Some 110/74 crank options and 1 130/86 option. The bottom 2 use 3U spindles. The rest use 121.5.

I picked one and installed the 50/36/28 rings. This crank requires smaller diameter bolts on the 3rd ring. Found a 121.5 spindle. Let's put them on.

Spindle in and crank on. Let's adjust the FD-6207 and see if it works.

Moved the FD down and adjusted the limits. I also put a wheel/hub on the back with a 12-28 7 speed. The chain clears the FD roller on the 28 ring and the 18, 21, 24 and 28 cog. However, the stock RD will not work with the 28 front ring and the 24/28 cogs. The top pulley hits the cogs. It will work with a 30t ring and the 24/28 cogs. So you will need a LG cage RD to run a 28t front ring.

If you run a 30t small ring, the stock RD will work.

There you go. The FD-6207 is up to the task.
