Found this Kmart e-blast in my spambox. Online shopping: Perfected. Front forks: Not so perfected.
Apparently, they ensure the same lack of assembly care for their internal photographs too.

My first Huffy Thunder Road had the forks on backwards. Being that young I didn't know any better. My friends and I discussed it when I kept complaining about wrecking on every jump I did. Finally I gave up and started riding home at which point in time the coaster brake loosened up. On the way back to the store with the bike in the rear of the station wagon I had to catch the ball bearings as they fell out. The next one was perfect and a blast. I wore that one out.

Maybe it's a technique to temper downhill speed. Sort of like when Ferris Bueller tried to roll back the odometer by throwing it in reverse.

On my ride this Tuesday, I drafted a very smoothly-ridden electric bike up 27mph, when I had the thought that e-bikes would make good dernys, with their smooth acceleration and pedals to give the pacer a feel for things. Some of them even look funny like dernys, with undersize wheels, fat hubs, weird rider position, and loafy super short cranks with wide Q-factor. Maybe Kmart sells this sort of awkward e-bike? An entire Kmart keirin team will be next!

Yeah this article says a lot of fans were outraged apparently. It's certainly not the one I would have picked. The new Velosolex e-solex is a better kind of dorky and has pedals for smoothing out the acceleration and giving the driver a better feel for what's going on speedwise. Maybe they should give that one a try.

"backwards" forks are common for track bikes intended for old moto paced races. Clearly that's a bike intended for the velodrome

Sadly, the regular Joeblow that buys these bikes will not even blink an eye to the fork. Then they advertise it on CL when they're done with it and it will end up on our Wacky World thread.
