WTB: Vintage-ish Black Components

Trying something new as I've got plenty of bikes with classic polished aluminum groupsets and thought it would be fun to go all black on one of my bikes. I have a nice black Velo Orange Grand Cru crankset and some 9 speed carbon tubulars sitting around that seemed like a good starting point and I want to see how far I can go with this. It's an early 80's pink 3Rensho, so want to keep it somewhat era appropriate, but open to some compromises where necessary.

Here's what I'm looking for:

-Downtube friction shifters: Just need the levers.
-Brake calipers and levers: Recessed brakes, okay with either aero or non-aero levers. Would consider more modern dual pivots as well.
-27.2mm seatpost: Something more modern is fine here, just don't want any large white painted logos or anything.
-Front Derailleur: Okay with some silver here, as long as it has some black in there.
-Rear Derailleur: Same as with the front, some silver is okay, just want some black in there.
-Threaded headset: Willing to compromise here with something more modern as long as it has minimal logos.
-26.0 Quill Stem: I have a set of black 26.0 handlebars already, but would be open to an alternative size stem if you have some black handlebars to go with it.
-Pedals: Might just get some new black MKS pedals, but open to seeing what's out there.

Thanks!

I recently removed a few parts from a bike that might be up your alley. Suntour Cyclone rear derailleur:

Matching Suntour Cyclone front derailleur:

Suntour Superbe track pedals:

If anything here piques your interest please hit me up via PM and we'll talk

I endorse the black Suntour components for this frame that DD is offering: great quality without being over the top or bank-breaking. If you want to go that route WolfgangVerne I might have a couple things to offer if I can dig them up from the depths. What is the crown race on your fork: 27.0 or 26.4? Do you know what stack height you need?

Not actually sure at the moment, I'll have to grab some measurements of the crown race/stack height tonight. It's currently sporting a Suntour Superbe Pro headset and previously had a super record headset. So I'd hazard a guess of somewhere around ~38-42mm for the stack height based on Velobase numbers.

Can't tell exactly from the photo, but are the levers on these some type of plastic?

Subscribing to make sure I see all these cool, black components. These levers are nice, Brent.
OP: I have some first gen dura ace in black, but it might be older than you’re looking for: mid-70s, I’d guess.
@Drilliumdude: if OP isn’t interested in those black cyclones, I might be.

Thanks, folk, and keep the pictures coming please.
Best,

Yes. The black bodies and levers are plastic of some sort.
Total weight on my kitchen scales 184grams.

I don't think the black HS I have is a good one for this quality frame (Chinese made with sealed bearings) but I do have some (not really BLACK more like a dark gunmetal gray) Suntour "Power Shifter" DT boss mounted pair with the nice micro ratchet action. But color might be a deal-killer

I've got these Universal Super 77 listed in another spot. Recessed mount.

I'd let them go for $35 if you cover the ride. I'd hope they'd pair well with the Scott levers above, which look like Modolo-made. I assume the rubberrs will be firm, but I've never ridden them.

Yes those black Universal 77s also have some promise I think, and as you say the "Scott" levers are Modolo made but since they do not have the "Ergo" hoods and maybe (?) resin bodies I would suspect they are not at the "Pro" model level (Maybe more like "Speedy" model) but that might be moot as far as they actually function and if one can source hoods that are comfortable for the OP's hands.

These levers are in fact rebadged modolo professionals. I received them with the 919 anatomical hoods, but the years were not kind to them.

Best,
I'll probably kick myself later, but I'm passing on the Cyclones, so feel free to go for them if you're interested. I think I'm going to try and find some all-black Suntour Edge/Sprint derailleurs if I can manage it. We'll see how it goes!

Certainly a good option. I'll definitely keep those shifters in mind if nothing else turns up, but as you said, the color wouldn't be perfect. I think I'll have to see what's all out there for a bit before I really start making compromises.

These are quite nice, unfortunately I just picked up a set of black Dia-Compe Royal Gran Compe brake calipers. If I don't end up liking the look of those I may reach out later. Thanks for posting those!

What length stem are you looking for? I have this anodized Cinelli stem - 26.0mm clamp, 90mm length. The ano is a bit faded and some wear on the base. Let me know if it's of any interest.

Curious: Is it a 22.0 or 22.2 quill?

I'm still not convinced Cinelli made a black 22.0 stem, or if they did, I haven't found a catalog with it, or a part matching.
