Merida bikes
Being one of the largest bike manufacturers on the planet, why doesn't Merida sell bikes in North America? They seem to build very nice product.

Because Merida is part-owner of Specialized -- 49%, I believe -- and have an agreement with Specialized not to sell into NA under their own brand name. Merida makes most if not all Specialized framesets -- certainly the midrange and high-end ones.

So they're not mass market Asian frames?
My Merida mountain bike is made in Asia.
From Wikipedia:
"Merida Industry Co., Ltd is a Taiwan-based company with R&D headquarters in Germany that designs, manufactures and markets bicycles globally in over 77 countries. Founded in 1972 by Ike Tseng, the company designs and manufactures over 2 million bicycles a year at its factories in Taiwan, China and Germany."

You gave a reason for why the Merida brand isn't sold in the US(North America i guess) and it is incorrect.

Merida and Specialized actually have a cross-ownership relationship.
It would be nice if Merida bikes were sold here because Specialized is out of stock of almost everything.
