chest strap for big guys?
Anyone here use a chest strap for HR? I was suggested the Garmin soft is really nice but with a 55" chest I am not sure if the fit? No info on their website and no response from CS?
What are the big guys using?
I need it be ANT+ compatible too?

While I don't have near a 55" chest, I can't bear having so much as a necklace on me-- a chest strap would drive me mad. I've been using a Mio Link wristband HRM, and love it. I don't even notice it's on my arm most of the time. Battery is only good for about 4 days of riding between charges (and I'm horrible at remembering to charge it) so I actually own two.
Bonus, any of the wrist-based HRMs are both ANT+ and Bluetooth.

Thanks for the info. I read so much negative about mio. Glad you like it. Price is good too. Lower than scorche and garmin. Hate these decisions

I had the Garmin soft and have 54" chest. Almost impossible to change the baterry without hosing it. I switched to Scosche Rhythm+ Heart Rate Monitor Armband

I don't really have anything negative to say about Mio. My first Link had the battery go dead after about 6 weeks of use-- if wouldn't hold a charge for more than 3 hours of use. Mio exchanged it with no questions asked, and the replacement has been absolutely flawless, averaging about 8 hours of use per charge. My wife uses one as well. Couldn't pass up a deal for one on Amazon a few weeks ago and picked up a third one, so there's always a fully charged Link available.
Of course, if I could just remember to charge things, this wouldn't be an issue. I'm so confident I'll remember, I bought an extra Mio.

wow..the premium strap will go that large...nice...didn't expect to have that option. I used the older version borrowed from a buddy and was not very nice but the soft one has awesome ratings so if I can get that bugger around me I may have to try that.
Choices!!

I'd buy it from REI so if it's too tight I could take it back.
I'm about 50-52", and my Garmin strap is almost all the way out.
And yes, changing the battery is almost impossible. I finally sweet-talked the gal at the Walmart glasses center to try (after the watch counter attendant flat-out refused), and she cracked the screws with no problems. I bought a screwdriver set from her in thanks.

I am heading to Minneapolis this weekend so I am going to stop by REI and see if it fits. Otherwise I will probably go with the Scosche armband, their reviews are really good. The MIO will be my back up option, the overall reviews online are not so stellar. But would give it a whirl if all else fails!

I use a garmin (soft) strap, 55 inch chest as well, and it fits fine, I don't even notice it when I'm riding.
It used to be available in 2 sizes, M and L, but it seems to be only available in 1 size now. And I can't remember which size mine is...I would check, but I'm at work

Here is the strap sizing per garmin CS.....
the premium strap max is 56.7
https://support.garmin.com/faqSearch...yw07KGB4Bz74EA
that is just over my max so may have to give it a try.
