Your Weekend Ride Reports -- October 5/6

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Just came back from a 32k run up in the National Park. 1 hour ride - total climb (elevation) of 1500ft.

Going back for another 30k run with my dad shortly, but on the flat this time. Temperature is a little warmer than early - it was a little over 50f when I left home around noon. Winter is coming...

Very early 2-hour ride here in the city with about 2200 feet of elevation gain. Not sure exact mileage, as I was on a completely new route for me. Clear sky and all the stars were out. Just gorgeous.

It was a beautiful early morning ride this morning, but cold. The ambient air temp was 26°F but with wind chill factored in on the descent, it was 9°F, brrrr! Hopefully, I have at least another month of riding in our local mountains this year.

I feel you! My lungs don't like cold temperatures. As soon as it drops under 60F, I feel it deep down lol.

Nice 65 mile ride today. Was 60 degrees when I left and 87 when I got back. Took that road with the nasty hill. About 550 ft elevation in 1 mile. Always kicks my butt but going down the other side is great.

I did my usual Davis Is evening ride last Tuesday for 27 miles. Saturday I was back in Ocala Nat. Forest. I had a very pleasant 40 mile ride. The traffic was much lighter. It maybe that tourist season is over. Monday was off from work so did another Davis Is. ride for 27 miles in the morning.

Quiet forest road.

First mountain bike ride in years. I met a couple of Santa Barbara County Sheriffs on fat tire e-bikes! Cool bikes and friendly guys. Live Oak Camp annual Chumash Pow Wow.

Nice view from the fire road

Did a long loop from home for a total of 51 miles. Longest ride of the year for me in prep for the Cycle of Hope Metric (62 miles, 5,800 feet of climbing) first weekend of November.

51 Mile NorCal
