Peugeot bottom bracket rebuild
I have a 1994 "made in France" Peugeot Performance 200 road bike. It needs a bottom bracket rebuild which I'd like to do myself. What type of crank arm puller does this require? Would a universal crank arm puller work? Am I dealing with French threads? This really was made in France and was brought to the U.S. by a French international student who sold it to me last year.

From what I've able to glean, this is probably why you don't see any more new Peugeot bicycles. Try this:

Sounds to me like you should just attempt to get it off by using a standard extractor like the Park Tool CCP-22. You'll know soon enough if it has Martian threads or such.

I'm not sure what we know about old French cranks is of much use for a fairly new one. French bikes sold in the US eventually stopped using proprietary threading on the pedal threads, crank arms, and bottom bracket. I have no idea about modern French bikes though and it wouldn't surprise me if they stubbornly insist on using metric threading rather than converting to BSC (British) threading,

By the mid-80s Peugeot had converted over to ISO threading, so your 1994 model should be ok with that. You don't say what model the crank is, but by 1982 Stronglight (often spec'ed on Peugeots) had converted to standard 22mm x 1mm extractor threads, so again, a 1994 model shouldn't be a problem.

By this time the Stronglight or Mavic cranks that would likely come on a 1994 Peugeot had converted to standard ISO so a regular puller should work fine.
