February total: 81.74 km walking ... some on the treadmill, most outside going places and doing things.

Plus a whole bunch of cycling ... but most of that was recreational or training so it probably doesn't count.

Per Runtastic on WP 8.1, I logged 29 walks totaling 56 miles for the month of February.

Switched to Sports Tracker today, but there was a glitch- said I traveled 2.67 miles in 25:09 (not even when I try to run), so will be either going back to endomondo or give the baked in MS tracker a try.

Thanks to the sleet and snow I did get in two 8 mile hikes to work in February.

Today though it was just a 1/4 mile bike trip uphill to the library. And back again.

About two miles walk in the snow today. Boring. Another 1/2 mile with the dog, not boring.

Rode to work: 24 miles, rode to bus stop 6 miles (this was due to not taking any crap from my boss - she later realized that she needed me to work - so sent an employ to get me) - then after work - same 6 miles to the bus stop... so all told 36 miles today.

Quite a lot of walking in March so far ...

Monday 7.7 km ... commute walk + walk back from my lecture at the uni + and a walk to the beach.

Tuesday 3 km ... commute walk + a brisk walk at lunch to get some fresh air

Wednesday 7.2 km ... commute walk + brisk walk at lunch to get some fresh air + a rather lengthy walk from work across the Tasman Bridge to a location where a photography class was being held. Windy. Very very windy. I actually stumbled a few times going across the bridge because of the gusts. And at times, when we were trying to take photos, it was all we could do to hang onto our cameras on tripods and keep our camera bags etc. from flying away.

Was off work two days ago, but needed to swing by the office. Problem was it was just 25 degrees. Decided to leave the car and take my hybrid. Set a personal best in that weather. I've never ridden nearly an hour in weather that cold. Worried it would sear my lungs. Not at all. Balaclava, toe covers, and glove liners were awesome. Nice to shatter self-imposed barriers!

I road to my bi-annually cardio appointment. Then off to the lab for some blood work. From there I made a stop at my local Safeway for milk and eggs before going home.
All and all, a nice leisurely 21 1/4 mile ride. That offered me great bike security, as well as designated bike paths all along the way.

I walked through the snow and slush to the end of the driveway of the apartments and then to the corner and back to get to the convenience store. Then I cleaned all the steps up to my apartment with my dustpan so they would be clear for walking.

About 30 miles yesterday. It was warm (over 50f in some places) down to 45F at the lowest. Huge piles of record setting snow
is now melting, much of the road was submerged, I'm sure some of it has road snow melt chemicals in it. This is the reason for my 700c coaster brake single speed with full fenders and almost to the ground mud flap.

My wife is riding for the first time as an adult. She had her first fall complete with road rash today. Chain jumped off in a valley and the spin made her lose control in a steepish hill. Tough to congratulate your wife on being a real cyclist now when she's whimpering. But there will be a time.

More of the usual walking ... plus a walk back to work from the uni yesterday. It was a lovely afternoon ... about 19C and sunny.

This evening ... 5.12 km. We had planned to walk over the hill to another beach, but spotted a "walk". Around here, there are lots of "walks" ... these are paths that connect streets to make it easier for pedestrians to walk from one place to another without having to go all the way around like the cars do. These "walks" are also paths that go to nature reserves. Many of these walks are signed, and this particular one promised a beach we had not been to.

So off we went ... and it was lovely! A path through the woods descending to a tiny quiet beach ... complete with "hoppies" (a generic term I use, and which I've heard a few other people use, to describe the various kangaroo-like creatures around). Tasmania doesn't have kangaroos ... but it does have wallabies, potaroos and pademelons. These were likely pademelons.

From there we walked along the edge of a low cliff, with views over the water, almost to the beach we had intended to walk to ... and home again.

It was a good walk, and a strenuous walk! And I particularly enjoyed seeing all the pademelons.

Logged 5.62 miles of walking outdoors today. Cool and damp, but I couldn't keep putting off the errands, so just grabbed my most water repellent/proof gear and got on about my day.

I rode a few miles to home depot. Went home and laid around. Then rode to the gas station, came home. Watched an episode of The 100 and then got back on the bike for an evening 7 mile ride. Pretty good day. My sram supercork tape came in the mail as well, wrapped my bars with those badboys.

Today I rode about 6.5 miles to the store, I met this other cyclist along the way and rode with him for a few miles. He was a good rider, I should have gotten his number so we could ride around sometime but I didn't think about it at the time. maybe I'll run into him again. After I got to the store I stopped at a park and then headed home. I didn't get to far. I felt my back end shift around, I looked and my tire was going flat! So I had to walk home 4.7 miles. I really need to get a kit.

Had to drop of enrollment forms for a new school district for my daughter- current one is a Pre K-8 and she'll be in 9th in the Fall- and decided to put my new action camera (a gift from my wife) to use. I got home, plugged in the USB to the laptop, I discovered that turned it on when I thought I was turning it off when I shoved in my backpack. I have like 40 minutes of the inside of the pack and the sound of my breathing and traffic noise .

I commuted on foot, and had a nice long ride in the golf cart with the dog after work. We stopped to walk the mup in the park, and to get a cheese steak on the way home.

I've reached the 200 km point now ... just over 200 km of walking this year so far!

There wasn't as much walking after that delightful day on March 11, which I talked about above. Unfortunately I fell ill ... stomach flu, cold, respiratory issues ...

Between then and this past Sunday, I only covered 9.6 km ... mostly my commute.

However, I'm building back up again this week ...

Sunday -- 1.2 km (short walk with friends)
Monday -- 3.9 km (commute + walk back to work from uni)
Tuesday -- 6.5 km (commute + walk back to work from uni + lovely walk to beach)
Wednesday -- 6.2 km (commute + energetic walk to neighbouring beach)
