With a bike like that, you should give us multiple pics of all the different tubes on the bike, so one pic that concentrates on chainstays, one that concentrates on seat stays, one that concentrates on downtube etc.

Show this beast off.

Nice bike!! The tape color looks good with the logos. Congrats, and just in time to break it in for spring.

The Colonel may want every tube, but I would like a look at the stainless steel (maybe aluminium) cages, panniers/mounts, flared h-bars. This is a great application for discs, but they sure make wheels look heavy. Looks worthy of most any task assigned.

The drop bars give more hand positions for all day comfort, and also allow a person to get in a more aero position when riding into a nice (bad) headwind.

These are 700x42 tires, quite robust. If. Ever wear them out, I will probably go a bit narrower. But then again, I may join all the locals riding gravel roads and maybe these are a very good tire for that!

With the panniers I assumed a touring role for this bike. Road tour with 42s would not be my choice for any great distances, more like 35mm. Great for off-road bike camping uses. A second wheelset allows for easy 'changes of purpose' on this style of versatile bike.

I do have a second set of wheels from a previous bike that I am going to use for street riding. Really is overkill to just ride road with 42’s.

River Falls, Wi. Ever ride up Whippoorwill Hill Road near Waunakee? There's a grouchy old red haired fellow who lives right at the top of the hill. He was my best friend in high school. . Nice bike by the way.

Every bit of 31#! That includes the rear rack and those monstrously monstrous tires! I'm gonna use a second set of wheels for JRA and only these beefy wheels when I actually load it down. Rides very nicely though. With the alternator rear drops moving the wheel forward makes it handle like a road bike, and pushing it back will give it that long stable ride. It is set forward now. I never liked the handling of the Surly LHT and I think it was because of the long chain stays.Time will tell. I need to get more miles on this before making a final verdict.

I've never ridden near Waunakee. I had to look it up to see where it is, near Madison. I do ride west of Madison, by Dodgeville. A couple times a year.
