1982 Huffy Aerowind 12 speed
I got this bike for $40 off craigslist, it had the original 26in rims but the previous owner had spraypainted them. I only replaced the rims everything else is all original Mostly Shimano Adamas AX / Positron, the bike also includes a very large bottom bracket. The paint is in decent condition i would say it's a 55cm, Whats it Worth and is it quality?

the bottom bracket is a standard Ashtabula shell with a taper BB adapter for those cranks. the parts were mostly lowend copies if the DuraAce AX. I believe aside from the flattened appearance these are basic Hiten frames.
Value? $50 to $100

Interesting features on the frame, but unfortunately, it isn't worth very much. The brakes and shift levers are unique for low end bikes, but otherwise, it is a typical bike boom bike. As to value, not much. I would estimate the value to be less than $50, but there are other more qualified to assess. For collectors, the bike has little or no value (I would pass if it was free). If you bought it as a commuter or recreational bike, you did okay. Good luck.

I've seen a very similar bicycle at a co-op, and it was so damn heavy.
Add to that all the goofy parts, it's practically worthless IMHO.

It's a dog, worth about $40 as a conversation piece.

Nevermind what this guy says^ , yeah it was a really heavy bike for something "aerodynamic" flat is what i would call it. the shimano adamas components worked great and were the best feature of the bike. the person i sold it to was pretty clueless to buy a huffy for $140 but it doesn't bother me.

I had one in very very good condition that someone bought from me for $120. They were specifically looking for one (maybe they had one as a kid?) and we were both happy with the transaction. I had a beat up one pass through my hands that I took the pedals and saddle off (to perhaps use on one of my bikes) and gave away the rest.

It was a nice ride you must admit, but the weight issue and the big bb made me give it away.

I beg to differ, wrk101 is anything but a joke on this board. If you are lucky enough to get a price from him you can bet it is very accurate.

+1 If you don't want the truth, why ask? ( I've owned two of these, one I bought new and the other a curb find and I could not give them away.)

wrk101 is highly respected and his words are very accurate. He is one of a few that have clout in this forum. By insulting him, you are alienating others who respect his posts. If you continue on this path, very few people in this forum will help you.

We see a few of those a year in our shop, and every time ask “What were they thinking???” when they built this bike.
Check out the seat tube, it is narrow with a slot in it, and not much stronger than conduit.
All that said, it would still sell for $150 - $175 in Boston, all tuned up.

I can't believe the way they crimped the seat and chain stays, as seen in the 4th picture.

Just got one
Any roadbike in the sf bay area will fetch at least 90. I have one now with 27" aluminum rims. Im gonna put new tires on it and sell for $125. It isnt heavy at all, not sure if those who say these are heavy are wimps, or just ride carbon fiber. Personally i prefer some weight. I rode my friends specialized allez and it was so light it felt like it would snap if i hit a pothole. Im 140 ibs and have owned over 10,000 bikes. This is not heavy.

Wow, you have owned more bikes than anyone I've ever known, and most likely more than all the bike people I know put together!
However, that doesn't change the fact that a Huffy Aerowind doubles as a boat anchor.

... nor does it change the fact that this dude resurrected an 8-year-old thread about this thing. And is able to judge strength based on how light something is?

A Huffy Aerowind is basically a Huffy Windsprint with flattened tubes.
The Shimano Adamas AX component group is the only thing worth getting one of these for (to put on a slightly more worthy frame) as it'll perform half-decent and its looks provide enough confusion with Shimano 600AX to be mildly entertaining.

Yes, a 39 pound bike is light! Yes, a 39 pound bike is light! Say it 10,000 times and you will believe it.
