What is a "buddy list?"
I mean, really, what does it do? Does it inform you when one of you homeys has just posted, or something? Like the opposite of an ignore list?

I'll bet it's so if your really cool and have an overwhelming amount of "buddies" on here you can keep track of them all, but dont worry, Im sure you wont be having that problem.

That's pretty awesome how I got "owned" like that, but does a moderator or someone want to answer this question? I thought that's what this particular forum was for. Does a buddy list red flag posts by your buddies or something?

Well, I'm color-blind, so I don't know if I'm missing something...

A buddy list does exactly what you surmized, it informs you when
one of the members of your buddy list is online when you signon
or when they signon if you are already online.

Huh, I've got a few people on there and I've never had it alert me of anything. Is it a color thing or is it a PM-type alert?

On another forum I'm on, the buddy list is a small 'pop-up' type window that sits at the top of the page, and scrolls up with it, but is movable to whereever you want it. Unfortunately, it's not compatible with Firefox, so I haven't seen it in a while. I don't use the buddy list here (or on other forums that use the same software), so I don't know how it works here.

Hmm, I'm using Firefox. That might be it. "I love the friends I have gathered together on this thin raft. We have constructed pyramids in honor of our escaping."

Update- yep, that's what happens.
If you add someone to the list, when you go to the bikeforums index page, you'll see a plus next to people's names that are on your list. It just makes them easier to spot.

Thanks Koffee, you're a peach. How're you liking the south, so far? Big change from Chicago, I would imagine.

I still can't get over that I'm in "The South". It doesn't feel like it at all... from the stories I've been told about "The South".
VA is awesome! It isn't Chicago, but I like that... the pace of building is not as frenetic or out of control as Chicago, which is a relief. The riding here is so much better than living in downtown Chicago. I ride as much as possible.... the only time I don't ride is when my legs are in some pain or when I feel like it's time for a rest day (like tomorrow). There are way too many tempting rides out here!
The people here are way super cool- no offense to the Chicago folks, but every person that said they wanted to hook up with me already has- I had some flakes in Chicago, which was a shame. There was always some weather issue that someone couldn't reconcile themselves with in Chicago.
I'm loving Gravelly Point. Watching the planes come in is like the highlight of the end of a great ride. When they're coming in on the weekends, I end my ride there and spend quite a bit of time plane watching.
No job yet. But I hope... I dare to hope...
Bottom line, Chicago is a great town, and I loved my life there, but I'm glad to be here in a new place with new opportunities and experiences. I'm glad to be here.
Oops, one of my nephew semi-sleepwalks and just walked in here and flopped down and went back to sleep. I gotta get him back into bed. Goodnight!
