Has anyone ever seen a bike rack like this?

Obviously a very talented woodworker owns that bike.

I've never seen anything like it which led me to believe that it's custom made.

Hope he doesn't inadvertently press the button on his door opener!

Yes, this is probably a custom one-off designed by the builder. I'm not sure that it saves any space though as it is rather burdensome in itself. The owner will have to move it around every time he needs access to the other areas of his garage. Having struggled with the need to compress my bike storage, I've tried a lot of strategies; however the one I think will work best is to build an extension onto my garage.

Again I like the design. @nomadmax, you wouldn't happen to be the owner, would you? I'd like to hear about how the rack is working. I'm a woodworker hobbyist and can say that every thing I build from my own ideas is a prototype that leads to changes in the design.

Thanks for posting.

Beautiful! Too nice for the garage. I can see something like that if you need to keep your bike inside the finished part of the house.

Doesn't seem to save much space, though.

I found it on CL for sale; I'm thinking I might try to go and buy it when the weather breaks, it's not local to me. I have one of my bikes in my office on display it when I'm not riding it. The design of that rack just catches my eye.

Better snatch it up. I guarantee you'll never find another like it.

Yep. Nicely built but it takes up as much room as the bike when unused and doesn't save much space when in use, not sure of the point of it other than to show good woodworking skills.

Anchor your 12 pound bike

Given that picture... with a sheet of plywood and some woodworking tools you can make your own..

It's unwieldiness may be used to advantage to lock the bike up to it to be theft resistant ...

....

I ran it by the interior designer here and met with some resistance

Here's the link if anyone is interested in this beauty.

Since this is for sale, I'm even more convinced that the builder considered this a prototype design that unfortunately did not work as well as planned, probably because it was difficult to move around. If you have room for it and won't be moving it around, it should work well for you.

Made by a woodworker that apparently has a whole lotta extra space in their shop, so that they can store a bike in 3X the space it would ordinarily take to store that bike. It does at least appear to be well made. As a another woodworker, I trend more towards the utilitarian. I've made a handful off these, all out of scraps and leftovers. Double-duty, as you can put the front wheel in it when the bike is on the trainer.

Very elegant; not very practical. It looks like a draftsman's French curve template.

@DrIsotope that's good work. If I made something today out of wood, no matter how simple, and took it back to my high school shop teacher; I'd get an F

I wish I had the ability to go grab that thing and copy it fully and make a few more. Yeah they take up space but they look real nice and would be perfect in my living room. The current situation works but doesn't look as nice this may take up space but what a way to take up space.
