Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? It's not. There's pretty good evidence that Americans are actually the most work obsessed, success driven people on the planet. The cultural perception that Americans are lazy is weird.

Are you smoking crack? Americans aren't "work obsessed". We are "stuff obsessed". We want everything for cheap. We are obsessed with god bless the USA or "we will put a boot in yer ass", but don't think twice about dropping a paycheck on disposable Chinese made stuff at Wal-Mart. We have become a big image, with nothing to back it up, besides the past when we actually did work hard. We are spoiled, crybabies, still clinging to the "if I work hard I can make it or maybe become rich" , 1950s mentality that rich people still try to feed the rest of us, so that we keep the wheels turning, so they can stay rich. Joe Punchclock will ***** and complain about gas prices, but still drive the biggest vehicle he can afford. Happy as long as he can still afford a 12 pack and cable tv, so he can occuppy himself with sports. And don't you DARE try and make his 'Merica anything like Europe! We do things our way, and our way is the right way. The American way.

Gimme a break dude. That **** yer selling is a dying idea. People are realizing that.

Ok. I'm done.

i love when white americans have the balls to tell immigrants to get out of their country, hilarious.

iirc modern cities in japan such as tokyo have the most work obsessed culture, some dont even have homes but rent "pods" to sleep in for a few hours between shifts, and have high stress and the highest suicide rate which correlates to employment

HEY LOOK A BIKE

Haha no kidding. What year is the cut off for when you can be considered a "real American" and not an immigrant anymore?

What hub is that on the front?

Oh cool. I have a box with maybe a dozen of those SA 3speed shifter hubs. I always liked those.

theyre good hubs if you treat them right. i blew up the innards of it last year (long story, brake cable got all monged up, had to footbrake on srs offroad downhills halfway thru a century ride far from home) but SA has great customer service. i contacted them, told them upfront that i bought the hub secondhand (from a forum user here) and they still sent me a replacement cartridge and shifter for nothing.

my only complaint is that they have quite a bit of resistance in the cable pull, maybe ill try some high quality housing/cable next time

I keep going back to this, and just looking, and liking. I like the color, how it is fairly plain looking, yet so clean. Nothing over the top, not a single gawdy sticker on it (that I can see), and that color combo.....win. I am really liking what you have done here. Quoted a second time, because it deserves it.

You know what? Based on our (USA) obesity rates and health issues, it's natural to consider Americans as a lazy people. But in reality, we work way more hours, and receive far less benefits than most industrialized countries.

Some surprising reading on the subject. The U.S. is the Most Overworked Nation in the World
