Broakland bikes
hey just wondering if anyone here has experience with Broakland bikes. In particular the streetfighter. They seem pretty nice but at over $2000 for a frame, are they worth it? I have a chance to get one for less than half but havent heard much about these or really seen very many of them. Wondering about weight and etc. With a price tag like that they must be nice though. Thanks a ton!!

If they are not custom, they are expensive for not-custom; if they are custom and you are considering a used frame, it is custom to someone else...

They are not custom but the stock geo works great for me and is similar to what I would get for custom. They are hand built in San Fran though. And the price Id be getting it for is 600 with wound up fork and Chris king HS. Seems good to me consider the price of a new one.

I've seen a couple in person, never gotten to ride one though which sucks because they look fun. The build quality has always looked top notch and all of the owners have raved about them. Most of these guys have been mechanics and shop guys, so I assume they at least know a little bit about what they are talking about. (I also assume they didn't pay full price, they are ******** expensive considering they aren't custom anymore.) If you really want first hand accounts, go to pedalroom and search for Broakland Streetfighters then message people who own them asking for their thoughts on it. Thats the best way I've found to get opinions on bikes, especially if you can't ride it first.
Ride it first if possible, make sure it fits, but for $600 including fork and CK headset I bet you could flip it if it ends up being too much bike for you. If you like it and have the money I'd grab it. Probably be the only Broakland in Rhode Island.
Also they are made in Oakland, not SF.

Otherwise, just get the geometry of it and compare it as if it was a pre-built.
Great bikes nonetheless.
I've personally ridden one, although the higher end, triple triangle pipebomb w/ 35mm rake track wound up (the one with reversed fork ends).
A very solid ride but forgiving in terms of vibration goes considering it's made of steel.
I can't really speak about geometry considering it's a bespoke frame although the one I rode had a pseudo/compromised track geometry for streetability.
