That's pretty sweet. What size tires are those?
BTW, I took your suggestion are rode Still Creek Road this weekend. We were planning to go as far as Trillium Lake, but the snow turned us back.
I know, that looks rideable but it was getting steadily worse as we went up in elevation and our tires were sliding on the way up and we didn't want to make the descent excessively interesting.

I don't blame you for turning around. Snow on that descent would have definitely put it in the "excessively interesting" catergory.

It's not my gravel grinder, but it's too beautiful not to share. I just saw this on the Sellwood Cycle Repair blog -- they call it the Kona Bikepacking Unit:
More pics if you click the link to their blog.

Has anyone tried the Gevenalle GX shifters they have on that Kona Bikepacking Unit?

I haven't tried the GX shifters, but I use the Gevenalle CX shifters on my cross bike and like 'em a lot. The GX ought to be the same, just with a different pull ratio to match Shimano's MTB derailleurs.

FedEx dropped this off at my door today. With a tire change it should be pretty good on gravel. It's a Bianchi Volpe. Not sure what year.

After 7 months of waiting, building, and constant speedbumps, its finally done. 58cm dark and dirty blue crosscheck, sram rival cranks derailleurs and brifters, avid shorty 4's, velocity a23's laced to 105 hubs, salsa cowbell 2's and a brooks cambium saddle. I am so stoked

Space Horse. First ride.
Going to change the saddle and shifters, but really enjoy it so far.

I used to run this on the streets, MTB trails, you-name-it. Crashed in 2010 while jumping and shattered (literally) my elbow. I got more messed up than the bike did.
Still got the bike, but it's had the more traditional flat bars and levers. Currently building up a 90's Trek MTB from the ground up. Exciting times.

The 06' Kona Cinder Cone getting it's next iteration as a 69er Gravel Grinder. 3 by 9 with a funky old Bio-Space crank I had in my parts bin. I'm on a seriously restricted budget right now. I bought this frame NOS in 08' and it was a hardtail race bike, a 69er single speed fully rigid racer (I use the term lightly) then my commuter last year until I could afford a nice steel framed commuter and now to this for the great back roads and events we have in Michigan.
Here I am doing the Barry Roubaix on my Gunnar Rockhound. It did fine with the fork locked out. I had to sell my Kona Jake two years ago. Miss it!

Paint and and decals on the Gunnar were an archived scheme for a slight up charge.
BTW it's an incredible ride, great handling, responsive yet absorbs vibrations and bumps very well even with Clement Strada LGG 700x28 120tpi tires.

Thanks. My LBS is a Gunnar/Waterford dealer and had my fitting measurements. I came up with the parts list and had them do the assembly, just the frame came from Gunnar although they do offer a couple of fork options as well. I originally spec'd a Whiskey fork, but they were back ordered. My dealer saw the ENVE pop up on QBP so I had him jump on it and send it to Parlee for fender eyelets and paint.

Looks like your tyre/rocks have rubbed the paint off the right inside of your fork, yeah?

It's just a leaf. I washed the bike and missed the inside of the fork where my finger didn't fit.

Here is my CruX Elite Evo in all it's stock glory, after assembly at the LBS before I took delivery. I'll get some better pics soon. I also have a set of Stan's Grails with 2Bliss Trigger tires and am using the stock wheels with road tires, so far it has fit the bill for what I wanted.

It is sort of top heavy, and a bit sluggish on the road. I do think that a lighter wheelset and some 27/28c tires would make a world of difference. I have taken it on a couple of road rides and was able to hang in for a bit. The 5800 shifts very nicely and the brakes work great.
