Spare parts build compatibility question
I need a winter project, but parts are in short supply. Luckily, I realized that I have enough odd/spare parts for a complete build. The "problem" is that I have a Campy Potenza left shifter and a Record 10-speed right shifter. So, it will have to be a 10 speed rear derailleur and chain. The crankset and front derailleur are from an 11 speed group. I'm not worried about running a 10 speed chain on the 11 speed cranks, but will the wider chain be a problem for the 11 speed front derailleur?

Worst case will be some slight bit more chain rub, or potential for rub. We're only talking about .25mm per side of added width. Andy

My general philosophy is, if I'm buying parts, I will only spend money on stuff that's designed to work together. If I already own parts, I'll bolt up most anything I have on hand and see if I can get it to work to my satisfaction. You already own parts and you want a winter project so time isn't a major factor. You'll either make it work or you'll learn more about the details of what works together and what doesn't.
Have a blast.
