First Century Ride

i tackled my first Century ride today. I clocked in at 5 Hours 59 Minutes on rolling hills. Not sure how that rates time-wise, but just had a ball accomplishing this goal. Learned a lot along the way.

Congratulations!

My first and last Century ride was over 20 years ago and I still remember everything about it.

It rates as awesome, because you finished! Not exactly fast though but that may depend on how many times you stopped and for how long. I averaged 17 mph on one that I finished in like 6 hours.

Congrats. I still haven't done that. Haven't been on a road bike too long, always mountain bikes. I've done 75 in 4:10 and will try for 100 probably in sept when it cools back down a bit.

Thanks for the input. I was riding solo, and it was very mentally fatigued. Would've been nice to have someone to help push the pace, especially on the hills. I had about 2 nature breaks and a couple dropped bottles to stop for. There was much room for improvement, but just completing the 100 miles was great!!!

It's a lot more fun in a group and especially if there are rest stops and then a meal after.

Congratulations! Finishing a century is a real achievement no matter the speed. As Shelby said, it's a lot more fun in a group and with supported rest stops. Stopping at the rest stops can slow your total time but is half the value for me. I love the people I meet and what I learn at the rest stops. Keep riding!

I have yet to do a century, but striving towards that goal. I just did my 4th 50 mile ride today and got it done in 4.5 hours which is actually a record for me.

Nothing wrong with a 6 hour century...now find a faster group to work with and try to knock it down to 5.

I'm so confused as to what happened in this post for all the hostility.

Day One: I rode my first Century! ... Yay, congrats!
Day Two: **** you for riding your bike and accomplishing something.
