Need help choosing

Hi all

i can get one of two mountain but need advice to which might be better.....

1- Cannondale Sobe an aluminum with 8 speed SRAM 5 and Shimano A Derailleur 3 chain ring. V brakes

2- Trek 830 Chromoly frame 7 speed Shimano Alivio and 3 chain ring Shimano Acera X and Front Derailleur Cantilever brakes

both are early 2000..... both fit fine.....both have light weight rigid forks.

which would you choose?

V brakes are way better on trail. They are old bikes, neither high end, so get the one that needs the least work.

At this point it all comes down to condition.

What forks do they have?

They both have rigid forks
