Missouri Gravel Grinding
We had awesome weather in Southern Missouri on Sunday, so a riding buddy and I went on a 55 mile ride (mixed gravel and pavement). Most Midwestern gravel riding involves rolling hills through farm fields - and riding in northern and western Missouri is just like that. In the southern part of the state - the Ozarks - we have endless red dirt/gravel roads, many of them through mixed pine/hardwood forests with lots of hills, crystal-clear creeks, and few people.
Just thought I'd share of the pics - this ride was pretty hard, with several steep ~300 ft high hills, and loose descents. Total climbing was 3,700 ft, according to Strava. I ride an All-City Space Horse with 700x42c tires, while my buddy rides a rigid 29er with 2.1's. I've got the advantage on the flats and pavement, but the 29er is definitely better for bombing down the hills on this stuff.

I'd say these are pretty awesome pics; looks like great riding.

What 42s are you using on the Space Horse? I am looking into getting one, will probably throw my Nano 40cs on there to start.

Conti SpeedRide's - $30, 420 grams, with a folding bead. Great cheap gravel tires that roll really on pavement and gravel, but they aren't good in mud. The 29er has Nano 2.1's - I may try those in 700x40's when the Conti's wear out. I've had several flats in the past couple of weeks - all on pavement - due to cinders leftover from winter. I've had almost no flats on gravel.
