Good riding in the St. Lawrence Valley?

I'll be up in Potsdam, NY this weekend and was debating bringing my bike. Is there good riding up there? I've been to P'dam many times, but never gave cycling a thought. My daughter graduates this weekend so I wouldn't have much time to ride, but if there was a spectacular ride I may try to do it. Riding up to the mountains is a bit further than I'd be able to do as it is a long way up.

Not surprising there are no responses. Potsdam is pretty remote and doesn't get that many visitors except for all the students and parents. I decided to leave the bike at home anyway. I have to pack up the car with all her stuff.

I've been up there a few times. As you say, it's remote. If you like remote and deeply rural riding, and I very much do, it's a great area to ride if the weather cooperates.

I'm at the airBnB outside of Potsdam right now and the ride to it would be nice maybe. But the weather did not cooperate at all, not that I brought the bike anyway.

On the way back in the Saranac/Lake Placid area there were a lot of cyclists in groups. Was there some sort of organized group ride up there or is this just normal? The terrain is pretty tough.
