Which helped more?
After having a bit of muscle pain in my legs for a few days, I ate, in addition to what I usually eat, a bagel between two meals then some burger meat before going to bed. So, that's 450 calories for the burger meat and 26 grams of protein and 220 calories for the bagels and 8 grams of protein. In all, 670 calories and 34 grams of protein.
Today, my legs felt a lot lighter and more comfortable. But which do you think helped the most, more protein or more calories?

Since they hurt for a few days in a row, then didn't after eating more, I'd say it was the protein. For me, if my legs have a muscular ache on the bike, that's a sign I need more protein. Not necessarily true of legs hurting off the bike, which they do a good bit of the time no matter what I eat or how much rest I get.
