Kidde Plastic Handle Fire Extinguisher Recall

There is a fire extinguisher recall by Kidde, as-shown in the attached link.

U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Kidde Fire Extinguisher Recall

The recall affects many models, all with plastic handles, manufactured from 1973 to 2017.

In my case, the model number was on the bottom left label corner, different than shown on the web site images. The unique serial number is on the right side, below the UL mark, like shown in the web site images.

The manufacturer was called, provided w/ my model numbers for recall verification, with my serial numbers, with my shipping and E-Mail addresses. They are shipping replacement extinguishers to replace the recalled devices.

This is the hazard: The fire extinguishers can become clogged or require excessive force to discharge and can fail to activate during a fire emergency. In addition, the nozzle can detach with enough force to pose an impact hazard.

Check the model number(s) of your plastic handle Kidde fire extinguishers on the web site to determine if they are affected, or call Kidde toll-free at 855-271-0773 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET Saturday and Sunday for free replacement of recalled extinguishers.

Be safe.

Mt bike is happy to wait for the next ride, in the garage, next to the fire extinguisher.

Where does yours wait?

There is a fire extinguisher falling under the recall in the basement where I work on our bikes. I am calling Kidde tomorrow. I hope the company does not go under because of this recall. This is going to be a lot of extinguishers costing a lot of money.
