I can't wait to see future videos and photos of the event. I met riders from UK, Seattle, Chicago, Denver and few from NorCal. It was my 4th time riding the BWR, and being a local. I like to ask them how they like our hills and the event. Most was their first time, so all new roads to them, all new views. Some from Chicago was their first time riding their bikes outside this YEAR!!. One of them went down early in the dirt and crashed his bike and his kit. He was fitted on a Canyon Endurance Roadie with zipp 303s from the SRAM neutral car Cool way to see how a $10k bike handles on real roads/hills/dirt

Had nearly 6 month follow up with surgeon. Everything looking great.

I took my bike and gear and found a 24 Hr Fitness nearby to get changed at on Chapman which conveniently turns into Santiago Cyn which is what I wanted to ride today. Did 32 miles 2200 feet.

Wind wasn’t horrific but it was headwind both ways.

Got my wheels back last week. Nope on FSA warranty. They said something got stuck in wheel. I had no witnesses and despite ship trying to fight them they said no. So I got new rim and spokes etc and they rebuilt the front wheel using my original hub. Got the rear wheel back intact as nothing wrong with it. Cost to me was about $350 for parts and labor. When I need new wheels I will be going with another brand.

This was first ride since getting wheels back.

**** happens, can't win them all. At least you're back on the road and the expense wasn't TOOOO bad. Did they true the rear wheel as well?

I didn’t ask. I just know they put my tubes and tires back on after getting back.

And yes indeed on cost. Shop cut cost so they didn’t make money off me.

I'd love full carbon wheels but I'd get another bike for that 2-3k vs some wheels I might run into a curb or pot hole with. But I like the bombproofness of the old school Mavic Carbones (11spd) I'm on now. If I got something new, it would be the HED jet 5's or something. Same style design aka alum with carbon flaring, but wider rim profile and U shaped that is more modern. But these Ebay $550 wheels are working out for me and pretty quick at speed.

Cycling is much like sailing. The wind is usually coming from the direction you want to go. Last week riding home thru Irvine I had a headwind coming from about 10 o'clock on Bosque. Turned right onto Irvine Blvd and now had a nice tail wind. By the time I got to Modjeska (less than one mile), it was a headwind even though the road is dead straight. Wind direction changed about 180 degrees. Had the headwind all the way home.

I won't be getting any of these any time soon. My wallet definitely cannot go there. YET.

I rode to work and it RAINED on me. I rode my Emonda with Carbon wheels. I found it a tad difficult braking. What brake pads might work better that are for Carbon rims?

I use swissstop black prince or whatever they're called, seem to work OK but I've never tried 'em in the rain.

Now what is it that y'all gain from carbon wheels in exchange for braking performance?

I was not aware they were so godawful in wet. I was also taking care not to slip and crash on wet pavement that may or may not be slick since we don't get much rain.

I've ran the swissstop yellow but can't remember how bad it was in the rain or if I ever road in the rain with them. it was a race tubular set.

They look pretty, that's what you gain. And they're a handful in strong cross winds, so there's that. It's a nice upper body workout.

Can I bring this back to SHOES?

(Though I want carbon wheels too. This without even having a roadbike. Thinking Fulcrum Racing Quattro DB, maybe...)

Also - that's the colour scheme Emonda I almost ordered, but could only get it P1 and I got out of control on other bits rather fast. Very pretty -- I have a huge weakness for orange that usually leaks out towards KTM motorbikes...

If you like orange then I have the BIKE FOR YOU!

It's at @jsigone favorite bike shop too... return that stinking bianchi vaporware bike and get this one. It actually looks identical to the F8 that pinarello gave Jon Mayfield (zwift founder)

Because they stop at a fairly low reach — trust me; I looked!!

Though I did swear after the 950SM I’d never own another. I did at least not buy the Arsey Hater!!!
