Was it a century ride or
a century race?
most organized centuries have several
food stops , but their food may not be
your normal food types,
I learned to take
some of my normal ride snacks.
use the stops to fill up on water

106 miles. 18.4 MPH average.

Amazing scenery, pretty girls on tri bikes, made new friends and ate home made baked goods at the rest stops. The rest stop at mile 85 had home made strawberry ice cream.

1500 calories for breakfast helped tremendously.

Holy cow you're fast. I don't think I could dream of going that fast for such a distance. I don't think I could do 18 miles in a single hour.

LoL. You could do it.

Last summer I was riding 15 MPH. In early December I signed up for a gravel race which was to take place in March, started loosing weight, paid for a subscription to training peaks, used one of their training plans and started riding.

The training plan is challenging. Heart, mind and legs say one thing but the plan says something else. You do what the plan says and don't trust yourself. Your heart wants to just ride but the plan says hill repeats. Or there is a great group ride but your plan says no, you have to do some boring workout. Or you want to sleep in but your plan says that you have to wake up early, drive to the big boy's ride and get your ass kicked. LoL.

Going to bed hungry stinks too. You and I discussed weight previously. A healthy weight allows one to train and recover properly.

So yeah, If I can do it then anyone can. Days like this make the effort worthwhile.

I've gotten faster in recent years, and my endurance has improved. I ride 3,000 miles a year which makes me happy. And I did a few hard rides last year, most notably the Hillier Than Thou. I'm not sure I want to do a program like that. If the end is just to get faster, no thanks, because the cost is a lot of fun. Maybe next year? Probably not.

I'm at about my ideal weight. I've never struggled with weight. In fact, I'm trying to build up my upper body, so I'm gaining there. I might lose a little over the summer, but I don't want to lose too much. My appetite was pretty out of control when my weight went down last year.
