Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yes, I have recently raised the saddle another cm and a half or so from the position I used on the other bike, due to geometry. I slid the seat forward, moved my cleats a bit, but didn't tilt the saddle down in front much more than it was before. I will give that a try before replacing the saddle.

What the...

are you guys seriously suggesting that an inversion of the penis is normal? That is not ****ing normal! I have spent over twelve hours in the saddle on multiple occasions and have never experienced this.

AND I ride on an Arione!

Again, not an expert here, but I don't think that just because the numbness goes away later on that it's cool. I mean, numbness = poor blood flow right? That can't be good for the nerves over the long haul. Wow, of all the risks I had anticipated with road biking, I did not think inverted penis and poor bloodflow to the jewels were on the list.

No numbness here - just the shrinkage. Everything is back to normal after I take my bibs off or hit the shower. I'm not too worried about it, I am married and don't get to use it that often.

Inversion doesn't sound normal.

More penis, less inversion.

Maybe tilt the nose of your saddle down slightly. It works for me. If I level out my Aliante, my stuff sometimes gets numb and tingly.

Had a girl friend 20 years ago that had an style so bad in her TT machine that she was masturbating herself with the saddle. I even one day asked her if she had problem pulling the darn bike back and forth and she just told me what was going on, I did not know what to say, if just smile, laugh or feel sorry. So pretty much girls have problems too, that they keep them silent is another issue. The end of my story is that we end up forcing her to change her riding style during the summer and a lot of fix gear until the pedaling got rounded, that was tough but the reward was not seeing fireworks and desire of smoke in the bike part of the triathlon. From she mentioned other girls were having the same issue.

Is not common to all male riders; using the right saddle adjusted to the proper height and position should prevent numbness.

+1 with eja... new bikes usually comes with really bad saddles. Advice, that the saddle has a lot of pad doesnt mean it will work. I had several of the mentioned problems, specially now getting older Saddles with cut in the middle works but remember one guy complaining that one of his nuts was getting trapped in the cut all the time But yes the cut works, Prologo saddles have another approach, they use diferential padding, so in the mddle and front the padding is softer than in the back and that one works too.

Saddle tilted up is a problem too and cause shrinkage, numbness and back pain.

Saddles is a continue search for happiness, it can take years to find the right saddle, same with shoes.

Your issue might be an indication that your handlebar is too low and/or your hip angle is not good.

More often than not, tilting the saddle down is a band-aid solution to a larger problem with the bike fit, and will put more weight on the hands which can cause discomfort in a different way.

punkncat, do you have a picture of your bike the way it is currently set up?

srsly never had this happen...i have the problem stuff hanging and getting pinch between thigh and saddle when in the drops...makes it uncomfortable. I can see where pressure on the prostate from the saddle could cause that though.

Because of repeated shrinkage, I'm no longer allowed to do my wife's laundry. Shrinkage can be useful.

As you were typing your response, I was revising my post to say "more often than not". With that said, having experienced crotch issues in the past, and tried to fix them by tilting the saddle down like most would, I have now come to find that the issues were all caused by a poor fit. I can now ride pretty much any saddle without any issues (level, and even tilted up very slightly), including saddles which I couldn't stand to ride in the past.

Shrinkage/turtle/inversion while cycling. No.
I experience it regularly while running.

I'm just hoping your goods were just simply small to begin with. Otherwise, I'm going to sell the bike and take up medievil jousting instead.

Seriously, though, I've never experienced this unless it was cold outside. Then it's just a typical case of 'landing gear up...'
