I don't have a picture, but I figure, here in Commuting, someone may have seen one or used it.
I recall a type of seatpost rack designed for a single pannier. Mounted to the seatpost but instead of going straight back it instead went up and turned into a tubular rectangle. It had a top part able to hold the mounting clips for a pannier, and then a hook on the bottom for the panniers hook or clip to attach to.
I remember seeing this and thought "That's a really good idea". I think it was targeted at road bikes but I can't remember the name, or if it simply didn't exist and I imagined the whole thing.

Or in general, I believe they are refered to as Saddlebags, some don't use any support other than the seat/stays, others use a rack that clamps to the seatpost and allows for more weight.. (like the above). Carradice (UK) sells a lot of nice saddlebags thats a nice compromise between a really large pannier and a small bike bag.

I was wondering what a "tubular rectangle" was. Now I know.
