Hey guys, i need some advice with getitng a mountain bike under 1k

few of the ones i found :

Generally speaking, with a budget of under 1K you're better off getting a hard tail if you're buying new. The components and fork are likely to be better at that price range over a full suspension at the same price. Plus a 1K full suspension will likely be pretty heavy. The other route would be to look used - you can probably find a couple year old full suspension that retailed in the 3k range for that 1K now.

--definitely check with your local MTB club. I'll bet one or two members has a bike they would like to sell -or- they know of someone selling a bike.

Full suspension under $1k gets you junk for a brand new bike.

~$1k MAY get you a decent used full suspension bike around 5 years old.

The cheapest new FS bike that is fairly good is the Giant Stance 2 at $1550. I still have my 2015 Stance, which I now ride for easy trails, and pavement riding. If you can't afford at least that, I would avoid new FS.. And really you are not getting truly modern FS frame design unless you are spending at least $2000.

Saw this on craigslist I wonder is this a good deal and maybe be able to talk them down? This will be my first major MTB If i can get DS at a good price on my first go round should i jump on it?

....also make certain that it fits you. Don't buy a bike just because it's a good price (unless, of course, you intend to immediately sell it).

and the add says o.b.o - so start low..... you will be surprised at how much folks with move off their asking price if you wave cash under their nose. ;- )

~$1000 seems fair for that bike and it has decent components. If it fits and is in good condition (which looks like it is) you should have it in your possession already by the time you are reading this reply.

Now that I am looking at the pics on a desktop monitor (rather than my phone), that looks like it has not been ridden a whole lot, or if it has, not very hard.

Those tires (which, judging from the closeup of the front tire, are barely worn.) are a nice upgrade over the stack Ardents, and the owner apparently knew enough to know to buy the MRP volume mod. If it fits, it looks like a good bike, and ~$1K seems fair.
