Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My interest is in the game. I don't follow football at all. But since my daughter is going to the game (her Marching Band is playing Halftime, I think I mentioned it), and for local conversational knowledge, I wanted to get a sense on how likely it is that the Eagles may win or lose.
One thing that makes the game unusual is the fact that the Eagles are hosting a team that has been much, much better than them this year. If division winners didn't get an automatic berth, would the Eagles even be in the top 6 of the NFC? They might not, but they had the benefit of a really weak division.

I hear the Eagles' starting lineup includes three guys the coach met at Wawa last week.

30 year Norelco man. Head too. Treat myself to new cutters every New Year.

Why not affect a beard like the rest of the young men?

I have been using the Gillette Mach 3 the past few years. I get a month or so from each disposable set of blades.

A combination of (a lack of) follicle density and impatience. I haven't yet been able to get past the annoyingly scruffy phase. Friends with more experience tell me that I could grow a passable beard, but I have my doubts.

Yeah, I’ve actually listened to even more than previous years because there’s simply nothing else to replace that sheer volume of audio content. Held very close to my viewing boycott though - have probably seen less than a full game so far.

But yes, they’ve looked vulnerable in the past and won, and looked unstoppable and lost. If Derrick Henry is up to mangling them on Saturday that might just do it. Miss me with this newfangled high-flying offense, defense doesn’t matter philosophy.

I get about a week from each cartridge... unless it's the last blade in the pack - that one usually has a service life of about three weeks until I get my ass to the store for new ones. It's a painful three weeks.

The funny thing is that no one seems to remember the Beastquake game. The playoffs explicitly do not enter the six best teams from each conference, so I don’t know why everyone is shocked when sometimes that doesn’t happen.

So . . . no call on the 27.5 first half over/under in the Taxslayer Bowl?

Gritty butter is not a pleasant combination to consider.

I have actually been to the PA Farm Show--twice. Neat for a one-time experience. Draft horse judging was really cool. Some gorgeous Percherons.

What was not cool was the cow that projectile pooped diarrhea in our direction. I suffered a only graze wound to the leg. The GF at the time got the worst of it. She got hit hard above the ankle. It ran down her leg into her sneaker, soaking her sock.

If it was a prize cow, most aficionados would consider that an honor; kind of like having your leg broken by an 1800 lb. pumpkin.

As a retiree I shave when I feel like it, unless we're going somewhere where I care how I look. So usually twice a week, tops.
