Shimano STI 5500 shift lever name plates
Does anybody know where I can pick up a set of Shimano 5500 shift lever name plates? or is there a substitute like Tiagra or Ultegra that fits the same lever?

Shimano Road Shifter Service Parts - $5.95 - Bike Parts 360
This took less then a minute to find. Did you try to google or bing search yet? Whether these are actually in stock will be your job to discover. Andy.

Seriously? Nothing like jumping to conclusions there Andy. Yes, I did try a Bing search. That is where I got that picture. It took me less than a minute to discover that the places that were listed did not have them in stock. Amazon, Ebay, some bike shop. Hence me posting this question on this forum.

One longshot is to try EBAY and find a Taiwanese seller who has some new, older model Shimano shifters and check their store items for parts. There seems to be a better supply of these items from Taiwan and possibly mainland China.

That's an idea. Thank you. Any other ideas from anyone other than Crankcrank and Andy Stewart....aka Captain Obvious?

I also have been looking for some time, the only thing I found that came up on ebay was a set made by a 3D printer, black only no graphics which I passed on. I now have friends and family checking their LBSs and co-ops. I need Ultegra but the last set I found was 105 and I am happy with that. Good luck, I'll PM you if I can find any.

Shimano isn't really in the business of supplying unique parts for older designs. Not that this is new knowledge. It isn't surprising that the online sources doesn't have any stock. That was part of my comment, although not well stated admittedly. If the Op had mentioned that he had checked on line first I would not have replied as I did. I suspect the only sources are either buried on LBS shelves (and most don't sell on line, or even know their small parts inventory until a live person walks in) or buying used to scavenge from.
Sorry if my first reply seem snarky but without the full story we are left to our own. Andy.

I recently bought a Cannondale with these shifters and am missing the right side cap. I wonder how difficult it would be to track down one.. I've been looking for haven't found much honestly. (I'm in Canada)

The Ebay listing is for the later models, 5510, that uses 2 pieces for the name plate. The OP's pic are for earlier version that uses a small black holder upon which the cover snaps.
The later model's cover has both a inner piece and the name plate that is originally chromed plastic. The Ebay item replaces the chromed part & needs the inner piece to work. In the Ebay pic, it's the piece between the replacement plate and the cable exit point.
