New member from Toledo Ohio
I already introduced myself on the Vintage forum but thought I would do that here also (need some posts so I can post pics too). I also am vintage at 61 years old. I have been riding all my life. I live in a bit more urban area than I would like, as it is about 5 miles of moderate traffic and intersections until I hit some country. I can however negotiate this on mostly wider roads until I hit country. I have a couple urban bikes that make seeing the surrounding neighborhoods fun also on a Sunday morning. My dad used to take car rides "checking the crops" in the smaller town I grew up in.
I, unlike most here am a solo rider. I enjoy the peace and solitude with my thoughts. I like fine mechanical things, hence my recent purchase of a 1985 Centurion Ironman. I was drawn here while doing research mostly for another recently purchased Huffy (Raleigh) 3-speed. The great interest in the Ironman bikes made me join rather than remain a lurker.

I had a 1976 Centurion Super Le Mans, which had the old Suntour vgt-luxe derailleurs with (friction) bar end shifters. My first decent bike and I loved it. I guess it would be vintage now. Since I bought it when it was new that make me vintage too

I used to spend time up there. The river road out to Grand Rapids and back used to be a nice ride. The bikeway going south from BG isn't bad either.

I bought my first decent bike in perhaps the same year as you. It was a near new Schwinn Super Sport. Chrome Moly too. I have ridden it for 40 years. Grew up in small town of Fremont, so when you bought a bike, you went to the local dealer. I am just now as I near retirement enjoying some of the finer things. Your Super would be all I would need.

I love that solo riding as well. This is my time with the solitude and peace and my thoughts... my thoughts exactly.

Kinda wonder how many of us there are that like the solo riding. I know that group rides and companionship are a big thing for most. Motorcycling same too. I would also guess the competition, groups, and organized stuff keeps people active in the sport, so that is fine too. Too each their own.

I have never been to Ridgeville Corners, but have been on highways both N and S of there. Yep, Toledo would be the "big" town comparatively. I actually grew up east of Toledo in the town of Fremont Ohio. I came to Toledo for college in the mid 70s, met my future wife, and the rest is history. Nice country out by Ridgeville Corners, and good biking area too.
