Decided the tire gods weren’t with me today, so turned around to head back and got flat #3 on the 15% descent heading back. I couldn’t find the hole to patch, so walked about a mile along the remaining gravel and rode the flat the 3 miles back to the car.

At any rate, weather was nice; I didn’t get rained on, and I had a nice walk in the country.
Well, that sucks! What size tires and what pressure were you running? 3 flats in one ride when you guys made the entire MMT with only 1 flat right at the end is quite strange.

Glad you got home without any further hiccups.

Well turns out it was actually 4 flats! Took the tube out today and I assumed my patch on flat #3 didn’t hold but I found a fourth. All pinch flats. Gravel King 28s (that measure barely 26) pumped to 65 psi. All on the front tire. That’s the lowest non-cyclocross pressure I’ve ever run - read somewhere of people using that pressure on these. My spidey sense told me it wouldn’t be a good day on flat #1, which is why I turned around so soon before I got way out in the boonies. Another problem was the valve core in one of my tubes kept coming out when I unscrewed the pump head.

I used Challenge Strada Bianca 33’s on the PNW ride, but they won’t fit on this bike. I used these GK’s at Eroica this year, no problems but I think I had them at 85 or 90, so I’ll go back to that. Live and learn!

Did the Harmon Hundred today (50th anniversary edition!). Hadn't done a century since 2016. Lots of family stuff the last couple of years.

Nice route in southern Wisconsin with lots of hills in the last 25 miles. Cloudy and cool, but the rain stayed south.

Finished with a rolling time of 5:56/16.8 mph avg. @102 miles.

At the Eagle Lake rest stop. Good fishing there I hear...

Wife snapped a pic right after the finish.

The forecast was calling for a chance of rain all weekend, but I found a brief window to squeeze in a shakedown ride of my newly built 1989 Bianchi Superlemondialeggeragiro on the Fanno Creek Trail.

The Fanno Creek Trail is a pretty good stretch of MUP in the western suburbs of Portland.

A few sections of this were newly opened since the last time I rode it. This bridge covers a section where you used to have to take to the sidewalk of a nearby road for a couple hundred yards.

Some parts of the trail don't drain very well. It didn't take long to decide which way to go at this fork in the trail.

Despite the threat of rain, the weather turned out to be just about perfect for a bike ride.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious works, too

I like that trail; nice place for a shakedown ride, for sure. How did you like the ride of your newest ride?

46 miles down the Malibu coast from Camarillo. I rode my '64 Legnano Roma Olympiade. My friend Rick showed up on his newly acquired Colnago. Pretty bike. We were just a tick short of a 16 mph average, and I had 3 personal records on Strava. Not bad for a 55 year old bike on a route I do a lot, even on modern carbon. Good times.

Magu Rock re-group.

Pretty Colnago.

My Legnano at Neptune's Net thru a fogged up phone camera lens.

Northbound, new pavement and wider lanes at the dunes.

Too soon to tell much. The headset was loose -- like I forgot to adjust it at all after Gugie fixed a problem with the fork crown race fit -- so I didn't push it much. At this point I can say that the fit is good, the bike is smooth and comfortable, and the 9-speed Daytona shifters I bought on eBay work much better than the seller led me to believe. I think it will be a good bike.

Very beautiful!

I think I would have trouble getting in many miles on that bike as I would be stopping often just to step back and look at it.

Well done!

I have actually been looking at powdercoat colors of a similar green.

Enjoy.

I didn't take any pictures yesterday. I volunteered to be a marshal on the 30th annual and final NYC Century ride. It goes through Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx, and it skips Staten Island. I rode with @wilfried. I ran out of time in the day, as I had to take my daughter to the airport on her way back to Denver. My other kid got married on Friday. (Yay!) I only rode 80 miles on the course and had to head home. I rode to the finish line and picked up my water bottle, t-shirt, and medal. It was another 7 miles home from there.

@wilfried rode 100 miles but not entirely on the course. And he lives to tell the tale.

Looks like an epic ride. Haven't spent much time in NYC, mostly airport and Statue of Liberty. I didn't know there were so many hills. What did you ride? Being a California boy I never saw the east coast till I was almost 30. To me Vegas was "back east". 😉

@Slightspeed, this ride shows the huge variety within the city limits. This ride was not hilly, at least not to me. There are beaches, forests, urban scenes, suburban scenes, and more. Sad that this was the last one they'll run. Maybe someone else will pick it up.

I rode my Lemond with the 650b wheels and 38mm-wide tires. There is 1mm of clearance at the chainstays, and I think the gap is closing due to stretching tires, so I won't have it that way for long. Either I'll move these wheels to my McLean, or I'll have the Lemond's stays dimpled. The wheels greatly enhanced the ride. I had never taken such a long ride on those tires, and I give them credit for leaving me feeling fresh after all those hours. It was my most pain-free long ride ever. If I can't figure out how to keep this bike comfortable, I might sell it. With 700c wheels, I can only fit 27mm tires, and it makes for a harsh ride. Am I getting old yet?

If you'd like to visit, drop me a line. I'll give you a great tour by bike or foot. There is a lot to see, and it's not all what you would expect.

Oh, and I think the Statue of Liberty is a horrible place to visit. Maybe that's because I'm a New Yorker.

No, it seems to be something sprayed directly over the original Celeste. I like it a lot too, but it’s going to be quite a job trying to touch up all the scrapes and chips.

Had some time get in a after dinner sunset ride. Rode through the local beach town that shutdown after last weekend.
I’ve posted about this place before.

Saw these chained up in a parking lot. Old Ross and a c&v air cooled Yamaha

It was a rare cool and cloudy day in SoCal, but I had a morning dentist appointment, so was only able to work in a quick 15.5 miles up thru Porter Ranch and Chatsworth Park on the '78 Raleigh Super Course.

Chatsworth Park North

The Raleigh at the Munch Box, a local burger landmark. I didnt partake ...honest.

Front of southbound Amtrak.

Rear pusher power.
