Let's make-believe that the iHop is revolutionary, just for poops and grins. When did they announce the release date? Do you have iApple's internal iSchedule? Do you really think that product shipped when iSteve thought it would? You think he didn't stand on some iTable in a conference room and berate some product manager about "how hard can it be to make a bigger iPhone?!?!?"

He asked for a revolutionary product, not a repackaging of something a manufacturer already produces.

Calling the iPad 'a bigger iPhone' is like calling an F1 car 'a faster Corvette'. I do find all these pronouncements about the iPad from people that have no experience with the device rather amusing. If you don't think it's a revolutionary product, take one home for a couple of weeks. It is indeed, and this will be revealed to you. At some point.
In the meantime try not to destroy any BB's.

Any thread I'm involved with becomes an iPad Pissing Contest at some point.

The iPad isn't revolutionary, it's just Apple's version of a lot of what is out there put together.
Revolutionary would be if it vibrated when you watched porn on it. The iBrater.

You're still dodging the schedule claim. The iPad can't have ever been vaporware because they chose not to risk it with an early date announcement. It's just a "hey, they'll be in stores Friday."
I'm not denying the iPad's significance. But it's not revolutionary, it's just the offering that all the apple fanbois flock towards, so it sells a bunch. Find me one person who bought an iPad that didn't already have an iPhone. It's an upgrade, without a phone.
I have met my match in the Fuji SST. That BB shell isn't going anywhere.

I have Polar CS600 power meters on my bikes. Now that I have gone Di2 internal wiring on my Cervelo SLC-SL, I really want to get rid of the wires so I am waiting for the vector. I hope my wait won't be long.

Corvettes matching the capability of matching F1 cars is rather unlikely. F1 cars feature 800-900 HP, unmatched aerodynamics and downforce capabilities, and they weigh <1500 lbs.
Do the math. Where do you get this stuff?

Back on topic; Anybody have any insight on whether Metrigear's current goal of sometime in 2010 is at all likely?

It occurs to me that since F1 cars haven't raced at the Nurburgrung since the 70's, it's possible they're comparing a modern Corvette super car to a 30+ year old F1 car. That would explain a few things. I've driven the Nurburgrung and I can't even spell it.

That's actually rather impossible to believe considering that fact that a recent road test of a $1.5 million Ferrari super car in Road & Track included the car's lap time of a major Italian race track of about 76 seconds, along with the observation that F1 cars routinely turn 56 second lap times on the same course.

In addition, any corvette that can do the nurburgring in less than eight seconds doesnt have air conditioning.

Looks like the best F1 time is 5:58. https://www.roadandtrack.com/racing/h...the_green_hell And it sounds like if an F1 team set out to beat that time, with appropriate tires and gear ratios, they could do better than that.

And this Corvette thing is the worst analogy ever, it isn't AT ALL like calling an F1 car a faster Corvette, they are completely different, and that thing IS a big iPod Touch, plain and simple. That is like calling the Corvette ZR-1 a faster Corvette. Which it is.
