Happens a lot around here. As if thieves couldn’t get any more petty... “If I cant have this wheel, NO ONE WILL!”

^ Can't believe any self-respecting thief would leave that front skewer in place.

Hope nobody loves either one of these brands. Most of these things get resprayed but not this one, and both sections have kickstand plates so they probably are not top quality frames.

Well, it was outside. In front of a BMX shop in an industrial park. That was kinda wild. I got barked at.

Also saw this in a front yard anchoring a flagpole. An ancient Exercycle. I'd have gotten a better shot but it was a dead end street in a redneck neighborhood and some folks were outside.

And, seriously? They didn't have a crank puller with them? These aren't very efficient thieves.

Efficient thieves would have used a battery-powered grinder to cut the shackle, and taken it all. No one said you had to be smart to be a thief, though.

LiteSpeed Tuscany - First Time

Spotted a few days ago, I flagged down it's rider and asked Richard if I could take a picture of it for this very "Spotted in the Wild" series. Nice fellow. This is the first and only time I've ever seen a Litespeed in real life. It was given to him 25 years ago in Calgary... . Is that the original fork?

Here's a fun one that I have zero clue about. An absolutely tiny Marioni set up with 650Cs. Chorus group and SLX NEW tubes. Anyone have a clue what this is? Junior road racer?

Really small Gitane GS, not the fanciest bike, but in gorgeous condition. Had to comment when this guy stopped where I was sitting

Your first Litespeed in the wild?! You poor soul.

Those are Litespeed Tuscany decals for the 1999 model year. The Time Equipe fork was also offered by Litespeed in 1999 and was shown on the Tuscany in their 1999 catalog (see attached pdf).
However, the 1999 Tuscany had an aluminum seat post collar and this one doesn't.
Also, this frame appears to have a natural satin finish which wasn't offered in 1999, but was the only finish available (officially) on the 1998 model (see attached pdf).
Best guess -- that's a 1998 Tuscany frame that was pushed into the 1999 model year and originally received 1999 decals.

You should have fixed that front QR for him. Not just pointing out that it’s on the wrong side...it’s open

Is this actually a Colnago? If so it’s the first I have seen with stem shifters.

It may not be open. I see these at the LBS. An idea SO complex that folks get confused. They assume it's like a wing nut, wind it down nice and tight by turning that wee handle thing. "Nice they put that curve on the handle, so it's easier to spin tight. I just wish the other end was a hex nut so I could use my adjustable wrench or slip joint pliers."

Looks like the rear skewer is the same way. I sometimes have to use a pipe to get these thing loose again.

Yeah, I’m guessing is wrenched down tight...didn’t notice the rear. Probably never dawned on him/them why ii says “CLOSED” on there.
