A bridge too far for 1x with X5

I was setting up a budget 1x system and screwing down this B screw to clear a 42T when it wandered off the stop. The side force bent the boss in the knuckle, and removing it with the side load boogered up the hanger threads too. When I tried to bend it back it snapped. Replacement hanger and NX RD now on order. It stings throwing out new stuff.

Funny how that happens on a derailleur spec'd for a 36.

Yeah, too ambitious. A few years ago before the cheaper 1x RD's came about, these were going on some 1x10 bikes with the Sunrace 40t in the rear. Thought I'd try it...
